CONFIRMATION St. John's Lutheran church in Island Lake was overflowing with friends and relatives on Sunday, May 26, as they gathered to see eighteen young people take their confirmation vows. Among young people confirmed by Rev. W. Lehmann, Sr., were two of our Holiday Hills teenagers, Janet Harper and Fred Jende. The service included a questioning prior during which time each of the confirmands were called upon to answer questions covering a portion of what they have learned during the two years they have been receiving instructions. CONFIRMATION PARTY In honor of the special day in Fred's life, Renee and Larry Jende invited approximately forty guests to join them in a delicious meal with all the trimmings. The guest list included the Heises, Abbinks, Gerry and Hal Breede, and Ralph and Lois Breede, the Krauscheks, the Borains, Fruiks, Johnsons, Walters and Youngs. FLAMINGO FLING With the busy summer schedule about to begin, be sure that you reserve the date of Saturday, July 13. The Holiday Hills Property Owner's Association will sponsor a dance to be held at the Johnsburg community house in Johnsburg. There will be special prizes. Bring your friends and plan a special weekend with the dance being the high point of a fun weekend. Tickets are now available from Chairman Carl Weiss or one of his committee. YOUTH^RCHESTRA The youth orchestra from St. Mary's Catholic school, under the direction of Sister M. Andreella. presented a Steven Foster concert on Thursday, May 23 and another combined concert on Monday, May 27. Performing in the concerts were six youngsters from Holiday Hills, the fiveMroz children, Joseph, Nannette, Roger, Michael and Greg^and Steven Kasprzyk. The orchestra started with a nucleus of four or five families and has grown to the point of presenting some very fine programs. With a family of five, such as in the Mroz family, can you imagine how competitive the practice sessions get? Besides their music lessons, both string and piano, Nannette recently danced in a recital in McHenry and Roger is in Little League. Sounds like a.pyetty busy schedule!
