Mother Nature obliged by bringing ideal weather to the community, and even delayed a sudden, brief shower until the competition was completed and the sound of the drums and bugles had travelled along on a breeze. Crowds larger than those attending any previous summer festival in McHenry were present at all events, from the1 opening water fights on Sunday, to the family night and square dance events in mid-week and the parade and Drum Corps Magic on Sunday. t The sidewalk sale had special appeal, with stores appropriately decorated with flags, posters and maps of the various countries which were the choice of each merchant. Within, items from these countries featured in many of the stores. All in all, it was a most successful week of activities which must haye proved rewarding for the many individuals who contributed so generously to promote their city. Plaindealer Photos f A
