Instead of reporting the date of the meeting which was to be July 24 at the community house and announcing that the banquet date was to be announced later it was compressed into one sentence with the middle left out. I offer my humblest apologies, but that sure is one way of finding out if anyone is reading the column! You're on your toes, guys! The banquet will be held at the American Legion at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 22. The managers will contact their boys for their money. Dollar are coming to STORE for MEN 1245 N. Walsh who died very suddenly, Thursday, July 11 after being ill for only one day. Services were held in Chicago on July 15 at the Irving Park cemetery with the Rev. Gilbert Halvorsen officiating. Her husband, Edmond, preceded her in death two months ago. She is survived by Mrs. Patricia Fisher of McHenry, Mrs. Geraldine Stratton and Jerome McMahon of Chicago, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Walsh was a member of the Lakeland Park Woman's Club. STROLLING THROUGH THE PARK Boating enthusiasts really had their choice over the past weekend. We add our congratulations along with the rest of them for many more happy years of togetherness. There has been a new Had started around the subdivision and hopefully it will be one of those that won't catch on. Charter members of the new deal are Aggie Prazak, Denny Druml and Russ Rode all of whom are - sporting slings. They can have them. Aggie caught her hand in a machine at work and luckily for her came up with everything still there. Dennis has a bunch of stitches closing a gash from a window. Russ has pulled ligaments or muscles .and this is one club I don't care to join, thank you. Speaking of clubs, there must be a musky club going around here. Lorraine Arient and Dennis Druml both have fiat thirty inciters to their credit and Don Humann caught a 32" and a 33" up at the Chippewa Flowage, while the king of the whole crowd is Marty Kinnerk over at West Shore Beach who brought a 50" monster home from Canada. I saw that one and know it wasn't a "fish" story cuz it wouldn't even fit kitty-corner in our freezer. Get-well wishes to Louise Kennett who was a patient at McHenry hospital last w^ek. She is home now recuperating. The Oakfords had a gang out for the Marine Day festivities. Marilyn McCullough, and Rosemary Haase and her five children as well as Helen Strandquist, Alma Siegmund and Lyn and Paul Gorens of McHenry did the parade bit with dinner and lots of fun. Lots of people from all over came to see the parade last Sunday. Little old McHenry is getting popular. Sue and Pete Schwaba came out from Morton Grove with their offspring and we joined the crowd to watch the fun. Later we went to a softball tournament in Ingleside where our team was skunked. Must be some scientific explanation for this occurrence, but it beats me. Mihaleks must have some kind of jinx in reverse working. A few months back they all were dealt perfect suits in a pinochle game and just this week Emil Callewaert was dealt a double runin spades * during another pinochle game! What can we say? Bev Wickenkamp's sister, Jayne, spent the week with them soaking up that good old sun and fresh air and then Susie returned home with her so she could visit Grandma for a few days. Susie is a pretty happy girl these days. She was just notified that she won a blue ribbon at the Art Fair for her entry and that's something to really be proud of. s Bev is the Brownie leader for our local troop and she is resigning her position and is looking for some willing gal to fill her shoes. If the troop is to continue it needs a leader and all those little gals have lots to give while they are eager and willing to be Brownies. Call Bev even if you are just mildly interested. She has all the information. Her phone number is 385-3069. We wonder if Gerry Wagner believes that old saw about history repeating itself. She wins the award for being the best needle in the haystack finder of all time, but then she gets so much practice! Ray Barle left on Sunday for Langly Air Force Base in Virginia where he will be stationed. Jim Miskovic spent the week in the city visiting with his brother, John, and family. Birthday greetings on the twenty-seventh to Jan Walker, to Debbie Schaedel who is eleven, to Bill Burns who is fourteen and to Jack Laursen Brothers, Tom and Rich Reining share the twenty-eighth for their birthdays. Gayle Laursen celebrates on the twenty-ninth and Jane Grothman on the thirtieth. Tammy Cole will be a very important five on July 31, and has lots of company. Lil Benes, Helen Strandquist, Bette Kamp and Ken Vanek all call it their day too. Keith Foszcz will celebrate his very first birthday at his new home in Lake Villa. Shirley and Marv George will celebrate their seventeenth wedding anniversary cm July 31 and best wishes to them for many more. Sure do hate to end on a sour note on such a nice day, but many people have been calling about a lot of vandalism in the area. Too bad that better things can't be found to occupy the days and more often the evenings. * Besides wrecking mailboxes and other sundry items, there is a group that finds fun in tormenting the cows in the field next to the beach. It takes lots of courage totorment animal Sv- So off the soapbox and back to the drawing board. The 4-H softball team from the Lakeland Merry-Makers is having a gas with their games. Reporter, Karen Fergen, enclosed the batting averages in the 4-H news last week, but we ran out of room. So for the record here are some averages. Larry Fergen is batting 750 with several 500 hitters following in his footsteps, KevinSchultz, Jim Curran, Scott Strange, and Tom Erber really sock it to em. Randy Johnson has a .421 average followed by Kelvin Schultz with .402. Carol Curran sports a .355 and Jim Harrer and Karen Fergen each have a .300. Shaun Strange is batting .297 and Linda Schultz is in there with a .250. Marvin Fell has a .143 average and Jan Harris and Joanne Harrer are still in there trying.
