They are working under the Direction of Miss Sherry Beck, summer ndssionary from Texarkana, Texas, and Miss Tina Farr, Ksummer missionary from McAllen, Texas. / Members of the team are, from left to right, iMiss Beck, Frances Harper, Miss Farr, Crista VChappeH,' Cindy Miller, Ronnie Chappell, Mary \Haney, Peggy McMillan, Lois Raiford, Danny Miller, Kathy Harper and Melody Iverson. The conducting of the Bible school is a part of the "Young People in Action" summer program for the local Baptist church. Other "actions" vtfll include a youth concert by the "Harmonaires" at the city park on Tuesday August 6 and also the community "Youth Crusade", Aug. 12 to 17. Children of the Wonder Lake area are encouraged to attend the Bible school held at 7303 Oak street each day from 9 to 11. MAR!AN SENIOR CLASS SOLICITS OLD NEWSPAPERS Have you been housecleaning and found yourself faced with a whole mess of old magazines andnewspaper? Well the senior class of Marian Central will be more than happy to take them off your hands. They will be collecting old newspapers, magazines and catalogs through August 20. FATHER PASSES ON ' Our sincere sympathies are extended to Mrs. Elsida Fuchs and her family upon the recent death of her father, Anton Freund of McHenry. Mr. Freund passed away in his home on July 24, at the age of 77. His wife Mary, survives as does a son, Richard S., seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted in McHenry last Saturday morning. HOSPITAL PATIENT We hear through that wellknown grape vine that Richard May "never bad it so goocPV He has been confined to the Woodstock hospital since last Thursday with leg trouble. The nurses up there are really giving him the royal treatment. He may never want to come home again. All kidding aside, our best of get-well wishes are sent to him and we hcje he will be home by the time this comes to print. LAST CALL FOR SANTA'S VILLAGE August 1 is the deadline for permission slips to be returned for all those junior Forester members who are going on the outing to Santa's Village on Monday, August 5. Cars will leave St. John's school at noon and will return about 5:30. IS you mothers can drive on this day, please contact any of the directors. Shorts and culottes are permissable attire for the day. This trip is in place of the usual summer picnic. Please eat lunch at home. WEDDING BELLS RING IN JULY Two of our young ladies became brides on the same day and both in St. John's church. At 11 o'clock in the morning on July 27 Susan Nowak became the bride of Leonard Jump. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Nowak. A reception immediately fol- i lowing the ceremony feted the newlyweds in the VFW in McHenry. Later the same day, 3 p.m. to be exact, a Nuptial Mass was read uniting Marilyn Wagner and Charles Skittino. Their reception was held later in the Johnsburg Community club. Our sincere congratulation to these newly married couples and may they always be as happy as they are now. ENTERTAINING FOLKS The John Sochas of 2011 Sunnyside Beach drive were happy to have as their guest for the past ten days, his brother, Ed, and his family of Chelsea, Mass. The group did lots of sightseeing in and around the area. They enjoyed their visit to Johnsburg to the fullest. On this past Sunday, the Socha home was the scene of much enter* taining. Members of the American Legion Engineeringpost 513 from Chicago were their guests. Hostesses for the afternoon were Florence Hopp, Edna Hansen of Chicago and Blanche Socha of Mass. UP, UP AND AWAY Five students from Marian Central in Woodstock, all seniors I might add, took off for Indiana last Sunday evening by air for a week's visit. Four of these young people are the Student Council officers and will be spending the week at the Indiana university attending the student council workshop. They are Eileen Desmond of Woodstock, Marty Conway and Janet Weber of McHenry and Joy Hettermann of Johnsburg. Lynne Merkel of McHenry went to Bloomington to visit relatives for this time. ! / BIRTHDAY GREETINGS Sixteen years for Tom Wakit-^ sch on Aug. 12. Aug. 18 finds Terri Kruger celebrating with her family. Ruth Martinec and Char lane Ash both will be doing some fan* cy celebrating with their respective families this month I'm sure. Happy days to all the August celebrants. PEOPLE ON THE GO The .Wisconsin Dells seems to be a popular place for short stays. Bill and Ruth Martinec. spent a few days up there last week doing a little sightseeing and a lot of resting. This week FRI., AUG., 2, 1968 - the Wally Kalemba family planned a few days visit there.
