Key words here are "we wear." Fashion preferences and acceptability vary from college to college. Pantsuits, for instance, are forbidden or frowned on at some schools, approved at others. For the freshman girl without first hand knowledge of what "we wear" at her chosen school, wardrobe planning demands special care. One recommended idea is to begin with basic fashions, adding others later in the semester. • Sales personnel in college shops and departments, friends who have already attended the school and, in some cases, guidelines provided by the school can help with suggestions for the starter wardrobe. Whatever the college or status of students, doublepurpose fashions help -- witness Kathy's plan. Kathy, who was elected Kodak's "Most Photogenic Smile Girl of 1968," makes most of her own clothes. She'll return to campus this semester with a made-, it-herself gray flannel pantsuit as part of her wardrobe. PANTSUITS -- TO wear or not? Ai University of Oregon, answer it, yes, says Kathy Caselton, a junior. She made this one herself. Both Simplicity Patterns 7307, 7351 and fabric are available at Singer Centers. For versatility, the jacket of the suit doubles as a coat with dresses and separates. Coat look of the doublebreasted jacket is enhanced by insignia brass buttons. ft f)
