CONDUCT CYSTIC FIBROSIS DRIVE AUG. 26 - SEPT. 2 Locally, scores of volunteers from this community will be knocking on their neighbor's doors Aug. 26 to Sept. 2 to alert them about the children's disease, Cystic Fibrosis, and to help raise funds towards furthering research and treatment of C/F victims. Cystic Fibrosis is now recognized as a major cause of death in young children. Every two and a half hours a child is born with Cystic Fibrosis. According to national statistics, one out of every 1,000 children is born with this lung and digestive disease. The mucus glands produce a thick, viscous material which plugs the ducts of the pancreas and interferes with the flow of digestive enzymes to the small intestine. Of even more concern is the blocking of the airways by this mucus. This often results in repeated lung infections and sometimes in lung collapse and death. The disease also causes the tear, salivary and sweat Sglands to product gceater quantities of salt and during, hot, - weather the victims are' subject' to weakness and heat stroke. Mrs. Larry Fuhrer, Wonder Lake, a C/F parent, is the McHenry county chairman." ZION EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH (Missouri Smod) 4206 W. ' f-. . V . ' It s Such a Bio World Some folks say that as we grow older the world grows smaller. Is that because of the wonders of modern com munication and transportation? Or is it because when some folks grow older they become preoccupied with their own little orbit of life? Junior certainly enters life completely preoccupied with himself. But once he begins to walk and talk--gosh how his world balloons! That's why he needs the religious training our churches provide. His faith must keep/pace with his burgeon ing world. And as grown-ups, in worship and Christian devbtion, we need likewise the spiritual gifts our churches offer. For it really is a big world. Full of challenges, opportunities, and promising tomorrows. It always looks that way to a growing soul. :§|p: tfMtH Kxtiixr Attrorimng StHwtwsi. Vn, Sundoy Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday > Saturday.
