HAY FEVER - THE COMMON ALLERGY Of the 21 million Americans affected by allergies, over 14 million suffer from hay fever and/or asthma. While the allergens that produce hay fever are mainly seasonal pollens such as ragweed, grasses, etc., there is also a type of hay fever that affects people all year long. This type can be caused by house dust, pillow feathers,. long haired pets and many other every day contact things. If you suffer from hay fever, you should consult a physician. Hay fever, while being irritating and uncomfortable but otherwise harmless, can lead to serious ailments if neglected for a long time. Chronic hay fever can cause a breakdown of the normal defenses of the nose, throat, bronchial tubes and lungs. This in time can lead to sinus trouble, asthma and even hearing loss in children.
