WED., SEPT., 25, 1968 - PLAINDEAIER - PG. 3 Home On Fall Tour A country setting of a contemporary ranch home is the C.S. Gordon residence, one of the three homes open on Holiday Hospitality Day, the annual fall tour sponsored by the Woman's auxiliary of Memorial hospital for McHenry county. Placed amidst a variety of pines, maples and oaks, just off Deerpath road, the home achieves an effort of quiet, rustic elegance with its stained redwood exterior and split-shake roof. Every advantage of the natural woods was taken in the designing of the landscape. This same effect is carried throughout the interior of the house. An example of this is seen in the living room. Hanging from the walnutpaneled ceiling is a large handmade dull brass and copper chandelier. One entire wall made from field stone houses two separate fireplaces; one warming the living room and the other lending cheer to the kitchen. Mr. Gordon's great interest in the woods and the water is seen in many ways. Crystal and china fish are beautifully displayed in the foyer. Charming prints of game birds carry out this theme in the guest suite. In the sportsman's corner of the den stands a handsome custom made cabinet for fishing gear. In this outdoors atmosphere, Mrs. Irwin Burger and the "Coners" will display their lovely holiday decorations and boutique items made from pines and cones. Mrs. Charles G. Wright will have her Well-known miniatures on parade. All of these artistic pieces will be available for visitors to Woodstock to purchase, only on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
