Seek Homecoming Title J^JE7ATHS BETH ORAL Beth Okal, 17, is the daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Frank Hromec of 1706 N. Knoll avenue, McHenry.' Beth is active in the Girls Athletic association, band, chorus, American Field Service, N.H.S., and stage band. She is also senior class secretary and a pom-pom girl. Plans after graduation call for her to attend a college that offers a well-rounded, liberal education, and to get her teaching degree in the humanities. She also would like to travel. Beth comments: "I love to be active in any postive way. I definitely feel that school, and life, is just what one cares to make it. It gives me pleasure to be devoting my best efforts toward a definite goal and watching that goal become realized." JOANN FREUND JoAnn Freund is the daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Joseph E. Freund of 5017 N. Spring Grove road. She has been active in chorus four years and in her senior year serves as secretary. She is also a member of the Girls. Athletic Association and American Field Service. In her junior year she was in the cast of the school musical. JoAnn lists her ambitions in this way: "To get to know the freshmen; to become known for my singing talent and to become a mother and housewife." MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WOODSTOCK During the past week patients admitted to Memorial hospital, Woodstock, included Master Michael Cox, Patricia Rehberg, Ben Summers, Alvina Schumacher, Judith Michels, Ardene Raven, McHenry; and Myrtle Bigger s and Clara Weder, Wonder Lake. GARR Friends of the late AnnaGarr of Chicago will be sorry to hear erf her passing on Sept. 21, the day after she celebrated her seventy-fifth birthday. The body rested at the Stermer funeral home on Fullerton avenue until Wednesday, where Rev. Donald C. Vogel officiated with interment in Aft. Emblem. She is survived by a daughter, a son, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, also one brother. Mrs. Garr spent several weeks each year in McHenry with her grand-daughter and family, Mrs. Harold (Esther) Walter, in Cooney Heights. LAWRENCE H. COOK Lawrence H. Cook of 4001 N. Dolores drive, McHenry, died Sunday, Sept. 29, in Victory Memorial hospital, Waukegan, at the age of 82. He was born April 19, 1886, in Thetford, Vt. Before moving to this community fourteen years ago, he was employed as a custodian for a public school system in Iowa. Mr. Cook is survived by three daughters, Mrs. George J. (Sarah) Oeffling of Johnsburg, Mrs. Chester (Margaret) Clute of Battle Creek, Mich; and Mrs.- Roy (Marie) Buss of San Luis Obispo, Calif.;*one son, Robert ^>f Ft. Madison, Iowa; also eight grandchildren. His wife, Beatrice, died May 14, 1949, and he was also precede d in death by a daughter,* Rose, in 1946. Visitation was after 7 o'clock Monday evening in the George R. Justen and Son chapel. Funeral services were scheduled for 2 o'clock Wednesday from the funeral home, with burial in Woodland cemetery. EVELYN M. SMITH Evelyn M. Smith, 54, a resident of 7620 South drive, in Wonder Lake, died in McHenry hospital at 7:30 Monday morning, Sept. 30. She had been confined there only a few days. Mrs. Smith was born in Chicago Feb. 15, 1914. She was employed at Brake Parts, McHenry. Survivors are her husband, John R.; thirteen children, Mrs. Ronald (Marilyn) Werner of Oak Lawn, Mrs. James (Patricia) i McGrath erf Markham, Mrs. aDonald (Agnes) Thompson of Rolling Meadows, Mrs. Wayne (Katherine) DeSutter of Ma- Comb, Susan and Barbara at home, John E. of Midlothian, Raymond G. and Joseph M. of Chicago, James, Michael, Timothy and Patrick at home; thirteen grandchildren; and two brothers , Gerald and George Goggin, Chicago. Visitation was after 7 p.m. Tuesday at the George R. Justen and Son chapel. A funeral Mass will be sung Thursday in Christ the King Catholic church, with interment in the church cemetery. WED.. Charles street, McHenry, died Saturday, Sept. 28, in McHenry hospital. Mr. Frisby, a retired mechanical engineer for a plumbing manufacturing firm, was born Feb. 12, 1874, in Illinois. He had resided in McHenry for the past year, since the death of his wife, Mabelle, in October of 1967. Survivors are two brothers, Robert J. Frisby, Sr., of McHenry, and Walter of Sioux Falls, S. Dakota; also several nieces and nephews. Hie body rested at the George R. Justen and son chapel until Monday morning at 10 (/clock when a funeral Mass was sung in St. Patrick's Catholic church. IRENE HEIDE Mrs. Irene Heide, 73, a resident of 4301 W. Sioux Lane, McHenry, died last Thursday, Sept. 26, in a Waukegan hospital following a long period of poor health. Mrs. Heide had been a summer resident of McHenry since 1929 and moved here permanently in 1941. She was born in Chicago, Jan. 9, 1895. The deceased was a member of the McHenry Woman's club. Her husband, Fred W. Heide, preceded her in death May 23, 1954. Survivors are two daugh- DAVID E. SPOONER ^ A funeral Mass will be jufered in St. Peter's Catholic church in Spring Grove, at noon Wednesday for David E. Spooner, 12, of Indian Ridge subdivision, Spring Grove. A lifetime resident of that community, he was killed early Sunday evening, Sept. 29, on Rt. 12, near his home. David was born Nov. 3, 1955 He attended St. Peter's parochial school until its closing. ' Survivors are his parents, Milton and Frances Spooner; one brother, Pfc. Milton A. A brother, James, preceded him in death.
