This consolidation was designed to gain greater manufacturing efficiency in a competifive industry where efficiency is a must. The location of the plant in McHenry came about as the result of a long months of intensive study and research. Many areas were initially considered but McHenry was found to have the greatest majority of industrial and residential advantages. The original 73,000 square foot plant was completed in 1967 and expanded this year to a total of 200,000 square feet. In addition, the site has lighted parking for over 400 cars. The average annual payroll of the local plant is over $1,500,- 000. This figure is expected to climb even higher as the expansion program of the company which is now in progress continues. The Echlin Manufacturing company has its headquarters in Bradford, Conn. It was formed in 1924, in San Francisco, Calif. John E. Echlin was one of the founders of the company and was president from 1924 until 1964 when he became Chairman of the Board. At that time, Frederick J. Mancheski became president of the company.
