All Soccer Players - If you are interesting in playing Soccer -- the Wonder Lake Mustange are interested in you. The V/.L. Mustangs Soccer club formed exactly one year ago and in • that time have done remarkably well. They have approximately 18-20 players for their team, have become incorporated with the State of Illinois, have a temporary affiliation with the Illinois Soccer association, have new uniform s of green and white, and most recently have been given the privilege of having the facilities of the new McHenry American Legion clubhouse in McHenry, Illinois for their clubhouse. They will also have their own field at the Legion grounds, before this season is over. It has been prepared and seeded and the members are now waiting patiently for it to grow into a good solid turf so they can play their home games there. The W.L. Mustangs Manager and Coach Leo C. Hartog is always on the lookout for experienced soccer players so if you are interested, contact him at 4105 E. Wonder Lake Drive in Wonder Lake, 111. (evo-h ljs) or at 815-653-7176. Coach Hartog has also been instrumental in helping to promote the formation of a Northern Illinois Soccer league and is very interested in the forming of a new soccer team in the N. Illinois - S. Wisconsin area. SEA SCENE ... It could only be a seascape that this artist is painting, and hardly in watercolors. He found solitude in the clear waters off Bermuda shores. In preparation for the 1968 football season, General Manager Angelo Dabiero of the Lake County Rifles has called a meeting for all players on June 6 at the Libertyville National Bank meeting rooms at 8 p.m. Also in attendance will be Larry Dunlap, club president, Gene Cichowski, head coach and Frank Gianamore, line coach. YMCA EXTENDS CAMPAIGN An Extra Effort campaign has been launched by the governing members of the Lake Region,YMCA to fulfill the goal set for the recent fund raising campaign. The drive fell short $6,000 but mefribers hope, through the generosity of residents of the community, that it may still go over the top. Meeting the goal means that the YMCA can continue the worth while programs so badly needed for young people and adults in this community. Onjy support of the program will mean that some day a YMCA building can become a reality. Contributions may be made to Mrs. Harriet Johnston, 385-2664 or 385-5922 or mail donations may be made to her at 3805 W. Grove avenue in McHenry. Cichowski will outline plans for the club's training camp which will start July 1. Practice sessions will be held at Mundelein High School practice fieldo Cichowski said, "I'm looking forward to seeing the veterans along with the rookies. We are anxious to get started." This will be the Rifle's fourth year in the Central State football League. Last year, the Rifles were League Champs after defeating West Allis 17-13 in the title game at Waukpgan, The league , schedule of twelve games will be preceded by an inter-squad scrimmage at Great Lakes on July 27th and a game scrimmage against the Racine Raiders at Racine on August 3rd. That's what we get for being forgetful. We ran a picture in the Wednesday issue of Bill Bolger throwing out the first ball in the Legion baseball opener, but forgot to write a oneline to put above the picture. So how does it come out but Bill opening the "Shamrock" season. Just one of the hazards of the newspaper game. About 15 years ago, former Mayor George P. Freund and yours truly rolled the first game on Tomasello's new bowling alleys. Never mind the scores. • 1 . On Tuesday night of this week we shared a table with the Larry Fuhrers for a sociable evening and fine feast in the Tomasello main dining room. It was an anniversary celebration -and a good one. Their chef really showed his skill as one outstanding dish after another covered the long table. 'Twas an evening to remember. At least our White Sox have the distinction of being the originalhitless wonders. The box scores show a lot of others following.
