Remember the day is next Sunday and the time is 7:30 p.m. HOSPITAL PATIENTS Sorry to report Pete Smith is still a patient in the Woodstock hospital at this writing. He went in thinking it was just for a few days but more time was needed for treatment, hence several weeks have gone by. We sincerely hope he will be home in the very near future. Mrs. Maggie Meyers has been confined to the McHenry hospital once again after becoming quite ill at home recently. Please remember /her in your daily prayers, as well as all our people who are not up to par. Belated birthday greetings Mrs. Liz Smith who observed her natal day last /Thursday while still confined to^the McHenry hospital* DEATH SADDENS ALL Anyone who knew Jack Keenan in the past, was sorry, I know, to learn of his death. Jack passed away in a Fort Lauderdale hospital just a few days after undergoing surgery there. He had hot been in the best of health for the past two years but always managed to have a smile and a witty saying for all of his Mends and relatives who stopped in his home in Pompano Beach, Fla. He and his wife, the former Ollie Hettermann, have made their home in Florida for almost eighteen years now. Besides his widow, he is survived by a son, Tom, of New Jersey, and a daughter, Mrs. Don (Betty) Dowe, along with five 'grandchildren. Funeral serviced were conducted on Thursday of last week in Florida. Mrs. Mesry)Hettermann and Mrs. John Herdrich, Lynn and Judy made a trip there to be With the Keenan family in their time of sorrow. The ladies stayed on for a week's visit. All of us up here wish to express our heartfelt sympathies to Ollie and her family at this time. SISTER OBSERVES ANNIVERSARY Sister Albertine, the former Eleanor King, was pleasantly surprised by her family members with a party honoring her twenty-five years as a sister. The happy group numbering about a hundred, celebrated the occasion on the community club grounds last Wednesday evening. We send along our very best Wishes to Sister also. AROUND THE TOWN The Roger Pechous family will be returning from a gtarious two week vacation spent^n Pompano Beach, Fla., visiting at the home of his parents. The five of them jetted out two weeks ago Friday and will now be returning to get their feet back on the ground and down to business. Flbrida is also the destination for Mary Ellen Freund who will be returning shortly after a flying two weeks in the sunshine. She spent her time with her aunt and uncle on the base where her uncle is stationed. Happy birthday wishes to Mark Dehn who will be nine on June 27. Karen Hettermann is in Williams Bay, Wis. for a week where she is attending the Northern GAA Leadership Camp. She and another student from Marian Central are representing their school along with girls from all over the state. Sorry but the names of Mr. and Mrs. Joe E. Freund and daughter, Joann, were omitted from the list of persons present at the surprise anniversary celebration of Tony and Agnes Freund. Sorry again just an oversight. So it is goodby for this week.' Please stay well and have a happy summer. Job's Daughters News \ On June 13, a regular stated meeting of Job's Daughters was held at the Masonic Temple. As this was the last meeting of her term, Karen Larson, honored queen of Bethel 98, gave her queen's report. There were many Masons cm the sidelines as this was also revelation night. The girls each had a Mason for a secret adopted dad for the past few months and this was the night to introduce themselves to their dads. Karen has had a busy and enjoyable term and is now ready to turn the gavel over to Marie Edmund. Open installation will be held June 22 at 8 p.m. at the Masonic temple, McHenry. Your SnformefcEi MsHanry, Illinois Dear Friends, Vacation time is a wonderful ^pportunit for families to draw closer togetWVin fun and activities in the great outdoors - though it be only in the home yard. Some of life's best learning experiences and fondest memories occur during the enjoyment of family outings. Make the most of them this summertime. Respectfully a . PETEiJMSTEN & §>(D^l JFajNE&Al WKDME 385-0063 Announcing new acts rates It's getting to be a habit. Our natural gas rates have been lowered with still, another rate reduction, effective May 1 this year. The saving to our customers amounts to $2.3 million annually. Add that to ^ur previous rate reductions, and it looks s even grander. Nl-Gas charges to its customers have been reduced by more than $30 million since January 1, 1962. So while almost everything else keeps going up, up, up, our naroral gas rates keep going down, down, down. _ That's one more reason why gas makes sense. A L L F O R T H E C H U R C H The Church is the greatest factor on earth for the building of character and ^ good citizenship. It is a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the Church. They are.- (1) For his own sake. (2) For his children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the Church itself, which needs his moral and material support. Plan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily. Copyright 1968 Keister Advertising Service, Inc., Strasburg, Va. The caravan has travelled through the desert fc many days . . . and the men are glad to see the tall date palms of the oasis in the distance. Here thejf will rest and refresh themselves beside the cool spring before continuing on their way. Every journey is made easier if it is broken by intervals of restoration and renewal. Even life itself can be a weary road if it does not contain times and places where we can pause to gather new strength. Where can modern men and women' regain the equilibrium and peace of mind that they t need so badly ? Fortunately, we too have an oasis . . . the Christian Church. The teachings of Jesus offer deep wells of comfort for the spirit, and springs of joy to revitalize any life that lacks goal or purpose.
