Emerson ("Patches") ascamp director. Monday - The day was extremely hot as 250 Girl Scouts opened a week of camping. Arts and crafts were on display, giving the girls a choice of ideas. Cadettes camped overnight, enjoying a refreshing swim in Mrs. V. Weyland's pool. Tuesday - Many of us were a bit puzzled as we entered camp this morning. We wondered if our camp have been taken over by intruders. But then we were told it was the Cadettes that flew those strange shaped flags. We were honored at noon by the Pipers Five, a group of lady pipers recruiting new Scouts and leaders. Without leaders Girl Scout troops would not exist. Wednesday - .Junior units slept out last night, with the mosquitoes and stars. They enjoyed drowning each other in a freefor- all water fight. Arts and crafts are going full force now. The camp is full of art designers and it proved very difficult to pick one or two for the county fair in August. Thursday - More Juniors camped with the mosquitoes ana' cool, CQOI weather last night. Strange how easy it is to tell which leaders over-nighted. They move a little slower and a little stiffer through the day - and such groans. If you were to visit camp today you would see some strange looking kids. Guess they were all so tired they put their clothes on inside out. Friday - What a fast week that was. It takes weeks of preparing and zip - it's over. At 1:30 we had an all-camp program for interested parents. The theme was "The Progress of Our Country" in honor of Flag day, planned by Mrs. Zinn. Each unit had a part in the musical. Receiving the flag and taps ended day camp. 1968. ..q Pm sure it can be said a ton of fun was had by all. And to all those who gave a helping hand to make day camp a big success, a million thanks!
