TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of July 1,1943) Miss Lucille Hergott became the bride of Clarence Michels of Johnsburg at St. Peter's church of Spring Grove on Wednesday morning with Rev. John Daleiden officiating. Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Goodell attended the golden wedding celebration of his cousin and wife, Mr. and Mrs. William Ford, at Waldo, Wis., on Tuesday of this week. McHenry was ® host to golf royalty last Sunday, June 27, when Jim Ferrier, pro at the EJLm&urst Country club for former Australian champ, visited McHenry and played the local eighteen hole course. Mr. Ferrier did his playing with Jimmy Smith, McHenry Pro, and Earl Seepe, who is also quite a golfer. Reactivation of the famous Rainbow division, which covered itself with glory during World War I, will be the principle theme July 13 when the Rainbow veterans hold their National reunion in the Crystal ballroom at the Mayo hotel, Tulsa, Okla. Robert R. Reno of this city is general chairman for the 1943 reunion according to the junior wjll soon leave for Buffalo, New York, where he will engage in research work. Donald Givens returned from a 3,500 mile trip through the south and southwest where he visited many places of interest. Mary Nye, daughter of Mr. and Mcs. Harvey Nye, was one of the 594 students to receive degrees at the fifty-ninth annual commencement exercises held June 8 at Northwestern Illinois university. Dr. and Mrs. John Goetschel are the parents of a son, Christian John, June 13. George ** Costa, 69, of Mc- Cullom Lake, died in Memorial hospital Woodstock, June 17. The body of Emil Kuring, 50, a twelve year resident of McHenry, was found dead on a couch in his home on Rt. 31, at the intersection of Idyll Dell road, Junta 14. The Illinois Air Pollution Control Board heard and approved remedial action proposed by factories and foundries throughout the state designed to reduce air effluents. The board adopted rules dealing with limiting emissions of sulfur dioxide when the concentrations of pollutants reach levels dangerous to health. The proposed study of limitations on the sulfur content of coal will be completed through the approval of federal funds. LOW BIDDER Apparent low bidders on three projects of the Department of Aerounatics were announced this week. One project and bidder were Memorial Airport, Waukegan, Lake county, Lakeland Construction Co., Inc., McHenry, $175,838 for construction and marking a 1,000-foot runway extension.
