The Boy Scouts are invited to submit their meeting news and news of their doings to this column. GIRL SCOUT TROOP 320 We opened our meeting with the Flag ceremony. Then all the girls went into patrols. Patrol 3 served treats which were brownies, popcorn balls, candy and cookies and kool-aid. After treats the girls formed groups and played all different kinds of games. Pretty soon Mrs. Stilling told the girls to get ready to close the meeting,, We ended the meeting with Taps and the Girl Scout friendship circle. Respectfully submitted, Cindy Kamp, troop scribe. BROWNIE TROOP 464 The Brownie meeting was held last week at the community house so that the girls could practice for investiture. The schedule for the investiture which was held this past Tuesday included a color guard which accompanied the flag for the opening ceremony. It began with the pledge of allegiance and My Country Tis of Thee. Each of the new girls then gave the Brownie promise and was given her pin and officially welcomed into Troop 464. Afterwards cake and coffee and kool-aid were served to the Brownies and their mothers, by the committee mothers which include Mrs. Foat, Mrs. Schabow and Mrs. Mullen. The meeting will be held > at M^^ Humphrey's home next week &s usual, Y Please give generously to the volunteer for Girl Scouts when she knocks on your door this week. Donations help the more than 450 girls in Valley View Neighborhood which is* a part of the Sybaquay council which serves over 8,000 girls in Northern Illinois. BIRTHDAY GREETINGS A wish for a very happy birthday to Margie Kroening who is twelve years old on Nov. 2. Nancy Altergott shares the second and will have five big candles on her cake. Nancy Hahndorf celebrates on the fourth, too. Wayne Cygan and Allan Moll share the fifth. Kelvin Schultz will be fourteen on the seventh and Randy Lamberg will be thirteen on the same day. Virginia Hodges and Joan Schwegel also share the day. Pearl Jensky will have her special day on Nov. 8. Best wishes to all and please help keep the list up to date. ANNIVERSARY WALTZ Our very best to Lorraine and John Arient who add another year on Nov. 4 to their collection since vowing to love, honor and obey. Litty and George Hendle have sixteen delightful years to their credit as of Nov. 8. CONSERVATION CLUB The McCullom Lake Conservation club held election of officers at the last meeting held on Oct. 17 at the Spojnia Polish^/ camp. RIGHT UP YOUR ALLEY The Couple Bowling League will see action again on Saturday night after the big shake up of the standings last time. On lanes 1 and 2 the Pandas and the 8 Balls will meet. Bierman's Bombers and the Crooked Cranes will mix it up on 3 and 4. 5 and 6 will have the Nippies vs. Jack's team and the} Mosquitoes and the Klik will compete on 7 and 8. The' Ten Pins and the Bugs are slated for 9 and 10 and 11 and 12 just might recover from the Sock ft To Me's and the Er- Gi-Gr-Ke's being there at the same time. WOMAN'S CLUB The Lakeland Park Woman's club will hold its next meeting on Thursday, Nov. 7 at jthe community house at 8:30 p.m. The club is Open to all the ladies of the community and are cordially invited to attend the meetings which are held on the first Thursday of each month. Refreshments are served and this is an excellent way for new people to become acquainted with some of their neighbors. CONDOLENCES Our very deepest sympathy ? Halloween is over again^and ;\h<&>efully we have survived' it •; for another year. It seems as if the celebration (if that is the word for it) lasts longer each year and starts sooner. Quite a bit of commotion wais heard over the past weekend with t.p'ing and cars racing around and at least one mailbox that we know of ripped off the post. Thank goodness there aren't those back yard conveniences to tip over anymore. Pll take a. modern Hail-" loween anytime. Ray, Mary and Janet Barle are back home after a trip East to visit Raymond at Langl(y Air Force Base in Virginia where he is a member of the honor guard. They took advantage of proximity and did a lot of sight seeing and rubber necking while there. Hope to see her early morning smiles soon; Greg Bartos has earned the presidential physical fitness award and received his certificate and emblem in the mail last week. He was the only freshman from Marian Central high school to complete the requirements which included a 50 yard dash, a 600 yard run, shuttle run, standing broad jump, situps for two minutes, pull ups and a Softball throw. In order to win the award the contestant must score in the upper fifteenth percentiel ofthe nation's youth of the same age in the seven events. To top it off Greg has been elected as president of the freshman class and the rest of the year can only be an anti-climax. FALL MySICAL " . The Hough Vocalaires will present their'nineteenth annual fall musical on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 1, 2 and 3 at 8 p.m. at the Adlai E. Stevenson high school, located on route 22 in Prairie View. Children 12 and under will be admitted free. They were in Newport and toured the USS La Salle and went into the NASA administration building and also saw the USS Kennedy. Kids were surfing in the ocean while they watched while wearing jackets and goose bumps. The best part of the trip was the drive through the mountains of West Virginia where they were into the clouds, and for us prairie folks, that's high! The colors were at their peak and just indescribably gorgeous. There are many caves in the Shenandoah Valley area and they went into some on a tour which was quite a thrill. So they are back home and happy with lots of memories to keep them going through the long cold winter. ---J Virginia Hodges is home from the hospital. She was released their first home in Chicago. Art and Gladys Hafer were visiting with friends in the area for the past few weeks while staying with Art and Carol. Gladys also attended the Rebecah State assembly in Springfield while there. They have since returned home to Mountain Home, Ark., where they have their new home. There is nothing so dedicated as a fisherman trying for just one more bite before the lake freezes over so those Izaak Waltons of McHenry journeyed up to Hayward where Buck and Molly Burger put them up (or is that put up with them?) Over the weekend so they could try their luck against the piscatorial population of the Chippewa Flowage. The intrepid group included Ron and Bill Creutz, Marty Kinnerk, Tim Farr, Jack Slaughter, Lee Williams and Don Humann.
