Tuesday - Nov. 26 - Boy Scout meeting - 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27 - Girl'Scout Meeting - 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Little League open meeting - 8 p.m. CUB SCOUT PACK 459 The Pack meeting will be held on Monday evening, Nov. 18 at the Community Housefrom7:30 to 8:45 p.m. Admission for each toy is a project they have made for an achievement or in their den for a display of current projects of the pack members. Pack meetings are family affairs, each boy should be accompanied by at least one parent and preferably the whole family, including other children. The meetings are timed so that no one will be out too late. Refreshments are served after each meeting. The Wetolos den which consists of ten year olds who are preparing for Boy Scouts is desperately in need ofadadwhois willing to spend an hour a week with the boys to help them with merit badges and such things. This is a crucial time for the boys but is not too involved for the dad who would to a willing helper. If you have questions please contact someone at the pack meeting. * BROWNIE TROOP 464 The Brownies are planning a train ride this Saturday which will taice them from Crystal Lake to Cary and back again with a stop for treats. Even though the mileage isn't too enormous some of the girls will have a train ride for the first time and that will be quite an experience. Investiture was held at the Community House and the new Brownies received their pins and were officially received into troop 464. Mrs. Hansen and Mrs. Humphreys wish to thank the committee mothers, Mrs. Foat, Mrs. Schabow and Mrs. Mullen for helping to make investiture a success. GIRL SCOUT TROOP 320 Oct. 30. We opened our meeting with the usual flag ceremony. The meeting went a little different, our meeting had to be orderly. We went into patrols and collected dues. We then went back into rows and received a piece of paper which said Halloween and to make words out of the letters. Cindy Kamp won and received a prizaWs then closed our meeting with Taps and Run Along Home and the friendship circle. Respectfully submitted, Cindy Kamp, troop scribe. Nov. 6. LAKELAND MERRY MAKERS - • v 4-H The Lakeland Merry-Makers 4-H club held their meeting on Oct. 28 at the Community House at 7:30 p.m. Lori Backhaus led the pledges. Carol Curren gave the secretary's report. Larry Fergen was not at the meeting so Karen Fergen gave the treasurer's report. Committee report: Karen Fergen gave the committee re4- port. She told about the Halloween party. It was held on Nov. 1 at the Community House and everyone came in costume aid was to bring a guest. Old business: The people who went to Officer's training gave a report on what they did. Kelvin Schultz, Kevin Schultz, Carol Curran and Colleen Godina attended. New business: We talked about the Halloween party and the next meeting scheduled for Nov. 11. The meeting was then adjourned by Marvin FeU and was seconded by Julie Koss. We then had recreation led by Karen Fergen. Your 4-H reporter, Colleen Godina. LITTLE LEAGUE The Little League open meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 8 p.m. at the community house. Even though the season is long gone for this year there are lots of plans to be made for the coming season, and a program involving so many toys doesn't evolve over night. All interested adults are invited to attend these meetings. It isn't necessary to have your own Little Leaguer to gain admissioA. The Tten Pins and Pandas are cozy in a tie for seventh with 9-11 and Jack's team the Bugs and BiermanPs bombers are a three-way crowd .. vieing for ninth position with 8-12. Randy Lamberg celebrated thirteen that same day and Joan Schwegel, Bob Kozy and Virginia Hodges all added another year then too. Pearl Jensky had her birthday cake on Nov. 8 and Sandy Dawson added another candle on Nov. 10. The flags were flying for Ray Roach who was six, Michael Miyaki who was eleven and Robert Dietz on Nov. 11. Mary Daurio and Mark Koch who was eight years old shared the fifteenth. Steve Knar was six on the sixteenth and Paulette Rizzo blew out her candles that day too. Lori Widhalm will be three and Joann Schabow will be seventeen on the eighteenth, Michelle Wohlert will be four that day and Scott Kuhns celebrates too. Billy Perry will add another year to make it four and Paul Rogers will to thirteen on the nineteenth while voters Beula Hoard, Airman John Zimny and Art Hafer will add another year. Patti McCarthy will be five years old on Nov. 20. Dottie Becker has a birthday on the twenty - second and Leanne Lindquist will to one year old. Kitty and George Itendle eel-* ; ^ 4 r ebrated sixteen years together^ tr 1 on Nov. 8 and Rosalie andStas Slonina added another year on the thirteenth. Bud and - Jan Walker celebrated thirty-three years of wedded bliss by taking a vacation from business and Anna and August HeckewiU celebrate fifty - four years together oh Nov. 22. Our heartiest tost wishes to all. STROLLING THROUGH THE PARK Did you miss me last week? Hope so. Played hooky on Monday with Lee Bujak and we went Christmas shopping early. This is really the way to do it. No body was in any hurry at all (except the poor soul behind us in the checkout line at one store) and tost of all the merchandise was just sitting there waiting for us. The hardest part of all was not saying Merry Christmas to anyone when they held doors for us so we could get through them with all our packages. Not ^taking any tots though, that I won't still be wrapping cm Christmas Eve as usual. Jim and Ruth Roach are making the rounds of the bird shows again as is their agenda for November. One of their singers won a third place trophy _ and rosette out of 104 birds en- ' tered in the show at Muncie.Ind. The NIROC show heldatO*Hare Inn (Mi Nov. 2 added two trophies and two rosettes for 5th and 9th places to their collection with 154 singers entered. After dropping Ray off at Grandma's for the weekend they attended the Greater Chicago Caged Bird Club show last weekend and with a total of 232 singers entered in the show the Roach birds took 2nd, 4th, 6th and 16th with 5trophies, and a rosette to add to their growning collection plus 3 bird lapel pins including an American singer trophy. Ray's Pekin Robin won a ribbon for "won in class". Several of these birds are repeat winners and the Roaches can be very proud of these birds as they knew them when they were eggs! They work very hard all year with their birds afid have been breeding their own for some time. The Grondy twins were baptized last Sunday at St. Peter Canisius church in Chicago. Gocfrarents for Jennifer Ann were Connie's sister, Gloria, and Ed Coughlin of Wooded Sho- Mary Fagan, one of the youngladies who had a . part of Ferrovius In "Androcles and the Lion"', supporting role in the junior class play present- The cast played to a large and enthusiastic ed last weekend in McHenry, seems impressed audience. Dinner was held for all the principals in the ceremony at the Grondy home. The twins great-aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. George Buckley, attended, as did the O'Connell family and Connie's sister, Marilyn McMahon, of Wonder Lake and Pete and Eileen Paulsen. Ray Roach celebrated his sixth birthday last Monday with the help of pals Ken Bottari, Lisa and Tony Palmenteri, Craig Schaedel, Beverly Hromec, and Bob and Gail Hutt. Games were played and prizes awarded and the group feasted (xi cake and ice cream. Get-well wishes to Patti McCarthy who should just about be getting over her three zillion chicken pox. Uselss things! An event of local note took place with the wedding of Maureen Linnane to Mr. Dennis San-, ti of Highwood on Saturday afternoon at St. Mary's church. The bride followed all the traditions of old, new, borrowed and blue and even had a sixpence in her shoe. A little bow from her Communion weilwastheold and she carried a lace handkerchief borrowed from the maid of honor, Ray Lynn Chadwick, and wore a blue garter. The six-pence came from Australia during World War n. After the ceremony the reception was held at the VFW with dinner and dancing for 200 guests. After a honeymoon in Jamaica the newlyweds will make their first home in Wheeling.
