' r kUv\.:A ..<»~•'; *f »•• ' (Continued from page I) i The significant expansion of ' services aimed at helping farm- ^ers with services ranging from ^computerized farm record I keeping to tax management and C farm business analysis becomes k. possible through an agreement ^ among seven area County Farm $Bureaus and Agricultural Business Service company, an affiliated company of the Illinois i Agricultural association. Jp Norman Specht, Wonder Lake, ; an outstanding fieldman for the $ Northeastern Farm Bureau ?v Farm Management association I5 for the past seventeen years, has (l been hired as fieldman to serve l<the seven-county area exclusively, A. Stephen Paydon, Plainfield, ABSCO president, ; announced in conjunction with i : the formation of this milestone £ cooperative effort to provide a f', significant service for farmers. « "In these days of inflation and £ cost-prize squeeze, the farm tax i management services of ABSCO /< alone would be well worth be-1 $ coming a client of ABSCO," k Paydon observed. "The up-to-date farmer can § improve his profit by taking advantage of a professional retf| cord-keeping system which uses electronic data processing for ^ fast accurate and low cost farm % record reports. I am sure many p, farmers in these seven counties . ^will want to take advantage of -- ABSCO's services. Specht's know-how and experience in farm management and tax work will be a significant new tool available to farmers here continued Paydon. The McHenry County Farm Bureau board of directors at its first special meeting in more than a decade re-considered earlier action to approve participation in this area-wide venture by neighboring County Farm Bureaus. This action took place Dec. 4, agreeing to help underwrite the financial part of ^ the program with other counties lyto make this record-keeping ' service available to members. Participating County Farm U Bureaus are in Boone, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Lake and McHenry counties. They have an agreement whereby ABSCO will make available to Farm Bureau members the company's farm record keeping, professional farm management, farm business analysis, farm tax management and rural appraisal services. At the November board meeting, McHenry County Farm Bureau directors decided not to participate because they desired more information and ABSCO requested an immediate decision. This provided no time to evaluate the program. When ABSCO extended the deadline because other county Farm Bureaus had a similar response, Walters called the special board meeting. He presented the additional information desired and the board gave its unanimous approval. ABSCO is headquartered in Bloomington, one of the dozen affiliates of the state-wide Farm Bureau. Paydon emphasized that fieldmen services provided by ISpecht will be backed up by a "home office staff prepared to provide technical know-how, experience and modern tools to . help meet today's farm managers ment problems. * Both Paydon and Walters urged interested Farm Bureau members in the seven counties to contact their County Farm Bureau to obtain details on the new arrangement with ABSCO. ; McHenry County farmers should call 338-2000 and ask for Henry Edgerton, executive secretary and full-time manager of Farm Bureau. City Program Financing Will Cover Two Years (Continued from page 1) proval of the McHenry Plan commission. A zoning petition to permit a new eighteen-apartment building south of James street and west of Center street was granted as recommended by the Zoning board of appeals. The Zoning Board recommended attention to drainage which will have to be approved by the city through engineering study. Opinion seemed general that drainage at the site, which is now a pocket for excess water, can be greatly improved with the new construction. City attorney John E. Looze presented the favorable report of the Zoning Board of Appeals on the hearing for construction of a Ramada Inn. The finalizing of an easement to provide continued use of a 19 foot entrance from Green street is expected this week.
