wmm * Yes, its S.O.S. time tor the ^Warriors again this week. Tlie initials actually have a dual meaning for this weeks commentary on the fortunes , of the McHenry basketball team however* First of all, they could stand for "same old stuff", because that is exactly what last Friday night's game against Woodstock was. The scrappy orange and black were zapped by a hot shooting Blue Streak squad, 68-47. The Warriors inability to shoot over the Streak zone defense accounted in a large portion for the seventh straight demise this season for • the Warriors. The McHenry, ' shooting percentage of 28%tells ; practically the whole ^story, the •• other part being the 51% mark enjoyed by the opponents from r the'All American cityiL ! The S.OJS. could also stand for "HELP*. Plagued by sporadie shooting, clumsy floor play, and now the flu bug, the Warriors are in dire need of assistance from somewhere. Hie problem is where? Coaches Ken Ludwig and El Pkrtenheimer are still searchingfor five ball players who will jell and put some points on the scoreboard. This current squad has a number' of members of practically equal ability crowding the picture every week, but finding the five who will function best as a group is the biggest mystery Since the Brinks holdup. What one fivesome does best is perhaps shoot, but they lack rebounding ability. Another group may play great defense but they can't score. This breakdown could go on indefinitely, but always the same result bubbles up, we haven't ad yet been able to put five people on the hardwood who can do it all. Greg Cook, a great quarterback who issaidto be headed for the. pros, threw a 43 - yard pass to Jackson. The story says Denny flew down the sidelines to score and bring his team within one point of victory. A 47-yard field goal by Jim O'Brien won the game in the final seconds. Says Kay: "The touchdown by Jackson was really exciting - our press doesn't give it justice. We at the game loved it." We love it too, Kay, just hearing about it. i Boat Operators - Receive Notices % Of Registration Springfield, 111. --All boat operators having boat registrations that expire in 1969 will soon receive a notice to renew their certificates of number. William T. Lodge, director of the Illinois Department of Conservation, said that notices would be mailed during the first week of January. The purpose of the service is to remind boaters to renew their certificates of number as soon as possible. All certificates of number will be issued for a two-year period, expiring on June 30, 1971. Anyone who applies early will be granted the same expiration date, June 30, as a person who applies later. The boater who applies early will not lose any time on his new certificate of number. Applications for the renewal of certificates of number should be mailed to the Department of Conservation as early as possible so that all boat operators will have valid certificates when the next boating season begins. SHINE . . . Spic and span shoes have always been a military requirement. Now that "Instant" shine from an aerosol can is available, why shouldn't a GI gallantly demonstrate for his service date.
