Also in the Lesson-Sermon is this related passage from the denominational textbook: "Kindred tastes, motives, and aspirations are necessary to the formation of a happy and per- j manent companionship. He has just finished his training course at Waterloo, la., and TWICE BORN MEN The Bible has many true stories of TWICE BORN MEN, that tell us HOW they were born the second time, and their lives suddenly changed, by the power of God. It tells of drunkards instantly made sober men, and thieves changed into honest and industrious men. The cruel, hardhearted Roman prison keeper was one. His true story is told in Acts of the Apostles 16:19-34. There we hear him cry out, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" And we read Paul's answer, "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Again in Romans 10:9, we read how to be saved, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus Christ as Lord, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Twice born men die but once. The Bible also tells of men who were only born once and died twice. The true story of the Rich Man in Luke 16:19-31 shows a man who lived a good moral life and depended on his good works and good deeds to save him. In hell he is conscious and cried, "I AM TORMENTED IN THIS FLAME." He is not accused of any terrible crime, but only of worldliness. One seemingly small sin, triggers a larger sin, and in his case it triggered the sip of procrastination, or of putting off accepting Christ, until, it was too late. Jesus said in Luke 13:3-5, "Except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish." In I John 5:11, and 12, Jesus offers "eternal life", life without end, to all who will receive Him for HE IS THAT LIFE. "And this is the record that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." Father John Strazalka, Pastor What infinite pains we take to guard our valuable possessions! Yet not all our possessions can be given protection in a safe. What about thai priceless treasure which each of us possesses--our eternal happiness? To safeguard this great treasure, where can we go? The answer lies in the Church. It gives us the combination that opens the door to our spiritual riches--the combination of faith and good works. The Church guards and guides us along the way that leads to the treasure---the way led by Jesus, our Savior„ It invites everyone to join in service to God and to our fellowmen. In this way, we inherit new riches of the spirit that no man or circumstance can steal or destroy. Scriptures selected by the Amer\c^n Bible Society Copyright 1969 Keister Adfertuiup Service.
