Rev. David Taylor, master of ceremonies for the evening, who was engaging with his easy wit. On the agenda was the annual business meeting, which was conducted by Louis Schairer, 1968 president of the Lake Region YMCA. President Schairer reviewed the important signs of growth, progress and increased participation in extending the image and services of the YMCA throughout the area. The job ahead in 1969, he reported, is to tell the YMCA story frequently and often in preparation for the 1970 capital fund campaign. Following the president's report, board members who retired this year were recognized for their contributions during their terms in office. Recognized were Arthur Ackerman, William Baker, and Rev. David Taylor of Crystal Lake, and Mrs. Lorraine Weisz of Woodstock. Roland Herrmann then reported as chairman of the nominating committee. He announced the results of the balloting to elect new board members. Chi behalf of the association, he welcomed the new directors to the board. Individuals who were elected to board positions for a one-year period are William Wickart and Frank Smith from Crystal Lake, Charles Murphy from Woodstock, and Mrs. Harriet Johnston from McHenry. Persons elected to three-year terms of office were Gerald Brix, George Huffman, Russell Magill, Robert Wilford and Robert Englert from Crystal Lake, Richard Cross from Woodstock, and Wayne Story from Algonquin. These men and women will be instrumental in making the decision that will culminate in the YMCA erecting a permanent home. At the conclusion of the business meeting, extra dividends in the program of entertainment featured a delightful and thoroughly enjoyable color movie of the bays and girls who participated in the YMCA's 1968 summer day camp program held at the Woodstock City Park. To further inform the governing members of the programs the YMCA conducts, a judo exhibition was performed by the judo instructor, Ralph Bergen, and students Bob Heaton and Jim Roden. The climax to an already delightful evening was the introduction of the guest speaker, William T. Branham, executive vice-president of Field Enterprises Education corporation, who spoke on the subject of his corporation's interest in the scientific investigation into the reports, states the Loch Ness Monster, or something like it, does exist. He illustrated Ms talk with slides and motici pictures. The scientific methods employed, the materials used, and the actual shots of something disturbing the waters of Loch Ness were shown. Mr. Branham completed his address with the expression that the Investigation was worthy of his corporation involvement and financial support for reasons of contributions to learning, scientific exploration and because of the caliber of individuals directly and indirectly involved with the project. His address presented an opportunity for interesting conjecture, but also for a better understanding of the scope of activities of Field Enterprises and also some knowledge of a subject that has long been a source of some great debate and mystery. The long, but pleasant sixth annual governing members meeting ended with a short board of directors meeting, at which the following persons were ^elected to become 1969 officers: President, Louis AUXILIARY OF HOSPITAL HEARS TALK ON DRUGS "Are Our Kids Going to Pot?" was the subject of a talk on drug addiction and use given by guest speaker, Dr. Robert Stanell, at the quarterly meeting of the Woman's auxiliary to the McHenry hospital. Held at the American Legion home, members listened with interest as Dr. Stanell went on to say, "The danger of drug usage is a cause for concern for the whole community. However, there must be cooperation and support from the various agencies and school boards as they attack this problem and attempt to correlate their efforts into a total program of education and discipline." Mrs. Donald Heldt, first vice-president of the Woman's auxiliary and program chairman of the meeting, announced plans for the annual spring fashion show to be held April 30 at Martinetti's in Crystal Lake. Invitations will be sent out on March 1. It was also announced that Mrs. Heldt was selected to be the model representing the McHenry hospital at the Grant hospital fashion show to be held in the Grand ballroom of the Palmer House on April li< Spring and Easter Fabrics We invite you to stop in and see our wonderful assortment of NEW materials - NEW colors.
