SINCE 1875 MCCULLOM LAKE NEWS EVE LEVESQUE S85-414I HEAD YMCA BOARD - The five men pictured were recently elected as officers of the Lake Region YMCA board of directors. Their election took place at the YMCA's annual meeting, held recently at the Crystal Lake Country club. Pictured, from left to right are Thomas Prather, treasurer from Cary; R. Russell Magill, secretary from Crystal Lake; JohnRenskers, vicepresident- program from Crystal Lake; George Huffman, vice-president-administration from Crystal Lake; and Louis Schairer, president from Fox River Grove. & How Can I? riy Anne Ashley Q. How can I deal with a cigarette burn in my carpeting? A. One method (if the burn is not too deep), is to rub lightly with fine steel wool. If the burn goes deeper, then the ends of the burnt tufts should be clipped off carefully with a scissors first. Then scrub again with the steel wool until all the black marks disappear. Q. How can I avoid damaging a nylon zipper with my hot iroa? A. By placing a double thickness of medium-weight woolen material over the closed, zipper placket. The heat of your iron will not affect the zipper, and the area will still be nicely pressed. Q. How can I keep the yolks of boiled eggs light looking? A. The yolks will not darken if the water is boiling before the eggs are placed in it. Q. How can I wash leather upholstery I am renovating? A. With saddle soap. After this is dry, apply a leather cream, rubbing it into the leather, and wiping off any excess. CULLOM-KNOLL GROUP TO HEAR DERBY REPORT ^ It is imperative that every officer, trustee and member of the Cullom-Knoll association be present for the meeting this Sunday, March 2, at 3 in the beachhouse. There will be a report forthcoming on the recently held ice fishing derby. Several openings appear on the board and these must be filled, including the office of secretary, and three trustees, and possibly one more. The Cullom-Knoll is a voluntary club which supports the beach and park. It is maintained by dues and fund raising projects. The club deserves commendation and support from members of the community. The C-K is also responsible for youth organizations, the summer festival, etc. Especially needed are senior citizens who have the time and vitality to contribute much needed effort in behalf of the community. It is true that, the village is incorporated and many feel that i the village board should take over the responsibilities of our most valuable asset. If this happens, the beach and park become public property, in its entirety. Check that little "gem" if you want your eyes opened to the facts. Here's hoping there will be standing room only (plenty of seats available) for the meeting' Sunday, March 2, at 3 in the beachhouse. See YOU there? McHENRY SERVICE CENTER IM'Sr.M.
