WHISPERING OAKS Gertrude Disney 385-7515 FAY OKSANEN FLIES FOR VISIT WITH PARENTS Fay Oksanen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Quanstrum surprised her folks by flying in from Massachusetts on March 5. Friends from Fox Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Dahlberg, met her at the airport and brought her to the Quanstrums in time for lunch. Fay had written to some of Mrs. Quanstrum's neighbors, in advance, and invited them to drop in for coffee and birthday cake that evening. The Heaths, Grants, Sauters, and Crawfords did so and Grace was really surprised, as it was her birthday. GRANDDAUGHTER VISITS Mr. and Mrs. Shea of 4515 Ashley had their granddaughter, Mary Beth, stay with them for a week, for her parents went on a business trip to New York, as the Sheas' other son, John, is coming home this weekend, from St. Bona venture school where he is attending. Mrs. Shea fell and had to have stiches in her head from the fall. WHISPERS ABOUT FOLKS Harold Therens of Sussex is on a three weeks vacation. Mrs. Therens, (Marie) had a birthday last week. Their daughter, Marge Johnson, and her two children, Jimmy and Karen, from State College, Penn., will spend ten days at the Therens home, while Mr. Johnson is going on a business trip to Seattle, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Phaw of Mt. Prospect were dinner guests at the Therens home and later played bridge. The men were winners for they are extremely clever at the game. Mr. and Mrs. Demke took a little trip to LaSalle to visit their daughter and son-in-law, Rev. and Mrs. L.G. Larimer. Mr. Sorensen of 4514 Sussex is home from the hospital, feeling better, but still has to take it easy and stay indoors for a few more weeks. The Canasta club met at Reeva Davis' home on Ashley. Tables were beautifully decorated in green for St. Patrick's Day. She served a delicious green bavarian creme. Prizes were won by Evelyn Sauter, Eleanor Crawford and Reeva Davis. The Senior Citizens of Whispering Oaks attending the St. Patrick day dinner enjoyed a lovely evening of good food and fine entertainment. They had some handsome young boys do some tap dancing and some girls did acrobatic stunts and modern dancing, plus a pantomine done by a young girl of Second Hand Rose which was dandy. NEW FOLKS Mr. and Mrs. Edward Dudlicek of 1002 Hampton Ct., a new area in Whispering Oaks, have a lovely new house and like it here very much. They are from Addison, 111. Daley and the committee in charge of the Chicago St. Patrick's Day parade on Monday evening. Madonna at-\ tended the reception-dinner given at the Chicago-Sheraton hotel and received a corsage and a beautiful 16 x 20 portrait of herself when she reigned as St. Patrick's Day Queen six years ago. All of the previous queens were invited to the dinner and to march with Mayor Daley as the Legion of Honor down State street on St. Patrick's Day. The televized parade is a yearly event in Chicago and each year a Queen is chosen from several hundred contestants. All of the past queens were asked to say a few words about themselves and what they had been doing since they had been named St. Patrick's Day queen. Madonna is now teaching first grade in a nearby suburb. This year's queen was chosen and the former queens will share her honors in the March 17 parade. Our congratulation to Madonna on this unique occasion. The Casey family had another special treat when Marine Lt. Maurice M. Casey called his home via ham-radio last Sunday evening. Lt.
