The new president, Bill Boettcher, opened the meeting at 8:30. Several residents expressed great concern about cars speeding in the subdivision, and on Sunset Drive, in particular. It was agreed that all present would make a concerted effort to reduce their speed and to talk to their neighbors in an effor to make everyone conscious of the danger. When the roads are graded and in good condition, speeding becomes a real problem and it is the desire of the association to bring it to the attention of residents before a tragedy occurs. It is impossible for any vehicle to stop suddenly on gravel roads, even at reduced rates, it takes several car lengths to stop. This would be too late if a youngster chases a ball into the street without looking. Being aware of the problem of speeding cars, parents are also urged to caution the children and watch the little ones closely so they do not wander out into the road. A committee was formed to investigate possible solutions to the problem. Harold Freese, Nunda Township supervisor, addressed the group about the township election and invited them to the township meeting held Tuesday, April 1, in Crystal Lake, and then went into a general discussion about township business and how it effects Holiday Hills. A letter to be sent to all residents from the Better Roads for Holiday Hills Committee was read and President Bill Boettcher said that altho this is not an association project, they endorsed it and will cooperate with them in their efr forts. EASTER EGG HUNT Saturday, March 29, the fields from Elm Street to Evergreen and Evergreen to Catalpa were alive with all the bubbling enthusiasm that accompanies an Easter egg hunt. Forty dozen colored eggs were hidden with a gold and silver egg in each age class for special prizes. Eggs with stars on them also earned rewards.
