The affair will take place next Wednesday, April 16, at the American Legion with serving to begin at 11:30 a.m. Tables will be reserved for business people who only have a short time to enjoy the repast. Last week we erroneously reported that there would be a variety of salads and we are most happy to report that the menu will feature a delicious chicken salad instead. Following the luncheon cards and bunco will be played and table prizes will be awarded. Tickets are being sold at this time by members of the Women's Club and reservations are being taken by chairman, Lyda I^disch, at 385-2754. Tickets will also be sold at the door. VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! The school board elections will take place on Saturday, April 12, with voters from this area voting at the East Campus of McHenry high school in the cafeteria. Voters may use the Waukegan street entrance as usual. District No. 15 which is the elementary system, District No. 156 which is the high school and the Junior College are holding the elections to choose board members for the respective school systems. On Tuesday, April 15, the city elections will be held from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ward 2 of which Lakeland Shores on the south side of Route 120 is a part, will vote at the George Freund Farm Equipment company on Crystal Lake road. Joseph Stanek, Gerald Wegener and Joseph A. Etten are seeking election as alderman for this ward. In Ward 4 which is all of Lakeland Park and the part of Lakeland Shores which is on the north side of Rt. 120 will vote at the community house on Sunset avenue. Frank Hromec and William Fandre are candidates in this contest for alderman. Only registered voters may vote in these elections. AND THEN WE VOTE AGAIN The general meeting and election for the Lakeland Park Property Owners association will take place on Sunday, April 13, at the Lakeland Park community house. The candidates seeking the four positions on the board are Everett Fleming, William Glosson, Elmer Hagemann, Lester Eckhart, Lloyd Wagner, Edward Erb and Dennis Storlie. Willow Lane, between 9:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. All absentee ballots must be submitted no later than 9 p.m. on April 11 in a sealed envelope. WOMAN'S CLUB The Lakeland Park Women's Club held their annual election of officers at the last meeting held on Thursday, April 3. Re-elected for another term of office were President, Kay Luing; Vice-president Maureen Johnson; Treasurer, Lyda .Radisch; and Registrar, Cecilia Oakford. Alma Siegmund was elected recording secretary. Louise Kennett is the outgoing secretary. The post of second vice-president was voted out. The installation of officers will take place at the May meeting which will be on May 1. Vicky Bottari will be the installing officer. After the election the main item on the agenda was a discussion of the annual spring luncheon with last minute details clarified. The next meeting of the Conservation club will be held on Thursday, April 17, at Sponjia on Flanders road at 8 p.m. Anyone can attend the meetings. The more the merrier. The time to worry about clean streams and waterways is while they are still clean. GIRL SCOUT TROOP 320 We started off the meeting by collecting dues and we also paid for some of our badges because we have to be paid up in order to go camping. Next week we are not having Girl Scouts. Instead we're going bowling. Beth Koch read some literature about the way dancing began and Tammy Leone demonstrated some dolls for the collectors badge. Equipment lists for our camping trip to Chapman will be given on April 9. Permission slips for the trip were given to us and must be returned on April 9 or no later than April 16. Jill Bartos will be a big four years old on the fifteenth and Kevin Druml will celebrate the day with nephew David who will be five years old. LITTLE LEAGUE TRYOUTS Try outs for all newly registered boys in Little League will be held on Saturday, April 12, at the Minor League ballfield on Shore drive and Center street at 1 p.m. Repair of the ball fields has been scheduled for May 3 and 4, weather permitting and all dads and willing boys are invited to help get the fields in shape for ball season. SYMPATHY Our very deepest sympathy is extended to Jessie Matthews and her family on the death last week of her dad, Tom Reid of Chicago after a long illness. STROLLING THROUGH THE PARK The Couples Bowling League is all through for the season. Sweepers night was last Saturday and the scores are all in for the year. Bowlers with high scratch series are Roy Apel with 501 and Joan Apel with 454. That's really keeping it in the family. Bowlers with high handicap series are Max Koch with 570 and Barb Meurer^with 553. Looks like the gals are really catching up. The most improved averages for the year are Roy Apel with eleven pins and Bev Walinski with a ten pin increase. Eleanor and Clare Haerle entertained relatives on Easter. Mr. and Mrs. Krumpen and Mr. and Mrs. Budzynski from F ranklin Park were dinner guests. Our very best wishes to Gene and Chris Foszcz and their family on the birth of a baby boy on April 2 at Woodstock hospital. The family is living in I^ake Villa. This makes four girls and two 3 boys to make things a little more even. , Lois Choate is ticket chairman for the annual St. Patrick's spring^dance sponsored by the Home and School Association. This year the theme is Hawaiian and the gals are planning on wearing their muumuus and getting dad's loud Shirt out of mothballs. Dress is optional though as some prefer to dress up for the occasion. Decorations are being done by Arlene Bartos and her committee, and from past projects of hers, they should really be great. Clara Freund picked up the 3-7-8-10 split last Sunday night while boming with the Sunday Mixed League. That's really bowling. Don't forget the kids from AFS who are collecting papers this weekend. March 28, April 4, 11) NFO OPPOSES REDUCTION IN SOYBEAN PRICE The National Farmers Organization recently registered opposition to the reduction of 25 cents per bushel on the 1969 government price support for soybeans. NFO President Oren LeeStaley said "The NFO regrets that Secretary of Agriculture Cliffor Hardin saw fit to drop the price support on this product." Staley pointed out that this probably will mean a loss of 250 to 300 million dollars in net income for farmers at a time when farm prices already are too low. He noted that Hardin probably had made a decision of compromise between the efforts of many farm groups to maintain the present support level of $2.50 per bushel and the apparent efforts of the Farm Bureau and soybean processors to reduce the support prices by 45 cents per bushel to approximately the $2.05 level. Staley concluded that this is another example where "there is need for all farm groups to be working for higher prices instead of pulling in opposite directions."
