Rev. Fr. Eugene Baum- Jiofer officiated at the 1 o'clock service, for which Mrs. Lester Smith was soloist. - Miss Sayler is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J.E. Sayler of 616 N. Center street, McHenry. Her husband is the son iof Mrs. Ray Bilton of Dearborn, Mich., and Dale Parks of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. ; Bouquets of white daisies and gladioli decorated the main alter. • The lovely bride chose a (gown of Swiss net appliqued with JVenice lace. Freu- • nd, and followed a tradition CAROL ANN MARTINDALE ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT -- Colonel (Ret) and Mrs. Robert W. Martindale of Galveston, Texas, are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Carol Ann, to Ensign Vern F. Kramer. Ensign Kramer's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Vernon J. Kramer of McHenry. Miss Martindale and Ensign Kramer are 1968 graduates of Southern Illinois university. Miss Martindale was Miss Southern Illinois University in 1967. She ist!a member of Alpha Gamma Delta social sorority. Ensign Kramer is a member of Theta Xi fraternity. Ensign Kramer is on active duty in the United States Navy in the pilot training program. He is stationed at Pensacola Naval Air station, Pensacola, Fla. Miss Martindale is teaching art in elementary schools in Lakewood, Colo. The wedding date is set for July 5 at 4 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal church in Galveston, Texas. Hie reason? They celebrated their first anniversary as the first woman's club at the lake to honor membership from the entire lake. They are also proud to be federated with the Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs of the state of Illinois. At the year end, all chairmen gave their annual reports and there was no doubt each chairman has spent a busy year, enjoying the good will she is promoting with fellow members and the community. At the monthly meeting Thursday, May 15, installation of new officers took place. The officers installed were Mrs. Grant P. Ernst president; Mrs. Robert Karlson, secretarytreasurer, and Mrs. Richard Raab, trustee. Mrs. Donald W. Gerlitz was the installing officer. The Woman's Club of Wonder Lake 'has a unique installation ceremony in that they present to the new officers, carried out by her two older sisters when they were married. Miss Sayler was attended by Miss Kathy McMahon of Wonder Lake as maid of honor, ltars. Jay Sayler, of Oak Park, her sister-in-law, Mrs. J.P. McClory of Lincolnshire and Mrs. R.C. Miller of Long Beach, Calif., her sisters, as bridesmaids. They wore floor length shifts of yellow chiffon over crepe, with sashes of gold velvet ribbon. Their headpieces were gold velvet bows and they carried white daisies tied with gold velvet streamers. T6ny Aquino served as best man and groomsmen were George Koustas, Dave McBride and Tom Monahan. All are of Dearborn, Mich. The bride's mother selected a beige net dress covered with embroidery in pastel shades and a cage veil trimmed with green velvet ribbon and leaves. Mrs. Bilton wore an ice blue suit dress with lace bodice and accessories of matching shade. A luncheon reception was held for 175 guests immediately following the ceremony at the McHenry Country club. The couple will reside in Dearborn Heights, Mich. Miss Sayler attended McHenry schools and Northern Illinois university. She has been employed by a Chicago Title Co. Her husband attended Michigan schools and served in the Army. Gerald Smith Claims Bride St. Joseph Catholic church, LaPorte, Ind., was the setting for a lovely wedding last Saturday, May 31, when Miss Donna L. Greenlaw and Mr. Gerald E. Smith were united in marriage by Msgr. Wittee in a 2 o'clock ceremony. Miss Greenlaw is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Greenlaw of 380 Oak drive, LaPorte, and Mr. Smith is the son of Raymond T. Smith of 2027 W. Sunnyside Beach drive, McHenry. Bouquets of gladioli decorated the altar. The pretty bride selected a semi-fitted, A-line gown with shaped back hemline of peau de soie. It featured three-quarter length, bell-shaped sleeves and a train Venetian lace. A four-tier shoulder length veil of bridal illusion, attached to three-tier bows of satin, was covered with Venetian lace and seed pearls. Attending the bride were Joan Cann of LaPorte, Ind., sister of the groom, as matron of honor, Mary Todd of Chicago, a friend, as maid of honor, Gale Greenlaw of LaPorte, sisterin- law of the bride, Betty Cart of LaPorte, a friend, Sharon Greenlaw of LaPorte, sisterin- law of the bride, Jean Pretzman of McHenry, sister of the groom, all bridesmaids, and Cheri Cann of LaPorte, niece of the groom, as junior bridesmaid. They wore candy-mint green, linen-like cotton Serrano gowns with lowered round neckline, empire waist and flowing chiffon train dotted with miniature embroidered white daisies with yellow centers. Embroidered daisies edged the back empire. The dresses featured threequarter length, bell-shaped sleeves trimmed with daisies. They had headpieces consisting of three tiers of mint green illusion attached to large daisies arranged in crescent shape. John Smith of McHenry served his brother as best man. Groomsmen and ushers were Dan Greenlaw and Pat Greenlaw of LaPorte, brothers of the bride, Calvin Cann of LaPorte, brother-in-law of the groom, Gary Cann of LaPorte, nephew of the groom, Gary Bouton, of Hanover Park, friend of the groom, Gerald Pretzman of McHenry, the groorri's brother-inflowers with a bee attached. At the same time, the service tells of the duties-to-"bee" of the new officers. The hostesses for the May meeting, Mrs. Fred Panek and Mrs. Francis G. Higgins, planned festivities and served spring punch, coffee and desserts. The mobile chest x-ray unit sponsored by the club was a success, with 301 chest x-rays being taken. This was a civic program for the residents of Wonder Lake as well as surrounding communities, and is one of the community improvement projects which the club supports. Members of the club, who volunteered their time, as well as penmanship, completing the card with personal data information are Mrs. Robert Karlson, Mrs. Lewis Willi&ms, Mrs. Sam Absher, Mrs. Eugene Matesi, Mrs. Donald W. Higgins is chairman of the automobile decorations trim which automobiles will be entered in the Wonder Lake Memorial Day parade. She and her committee are busily dreaming of ideas, cutting patterns and sewing with the theme of our forthcoming swimming instructions program to be the highlight of the day. RETURNS FROM TRIP Mrs. Paul Yanda returned last week from a two-week trip which took her to Tennessee and North Carolina for a visit with cousins. Accompanied by them, she enjoyed a tour of Great Smoky Mountain National Park. SHOP IN McHENRY AMONG THE SICK Mrs. George Dearborn, 2515 S. Scheid Lane, McHenry, returned to McHenry hospital Saturday. She had been released that morning from the hospital after a 5 weeks stay. After a trip to New Orleans and Jamaica for two weeks, the couple will reside in Carpentersville. Hie bride is a 1964 graduate of LaPorte high school and a 1965 graduate of the Michigan City Beauty college. Until her wedding she was self employed at Donna's Beauty Boutique, Hotel Rumely, LaPorte. Her husband graduated in 1956 from McHenry high school. He is transportation agent supervisor for Northwest Airlines at O'Hare field. Paul Nitz Joins Honor Society Dobro Slovo Sixteen students at Urbana- Champaign have been initiated into the University of Illinois Zeta chapter of Dobro Slovo, national honor society in Slavic languages and literature. Among them is Paul Nitz of 4715 W. McCullom, McHenry. Membership requirements for undergraduate students are at least a 4.25 grade point average in all Russian and Slavic courses and at least a 4.0 all-university grade point average (all based on a 5.0 equals "A" scale). Graduate students must have at lea?: a 4.75 average to be eligible. / Purpose of the organization is to recognize excellence in the study of Slavic languages and literatures. The Dobro Slovo chapter was established at the U. of I. in 1964. Since then, there have been eighty-two students initiated. Prof. K.A. Klein is the chapter's faculty advisor.
