REPEAT ELECTIONS "Dear Editor: "A question I would like to ask through the Public PUISQ and if I am wrong I would like to be corrected. We are reading and hearing so much about improvements that are needed and bond issues that are rejected because the taxes have reached a breaking point and yet a few weeks late) through some excuse, the election is held agaii^ "It seems to me that some years ago there was a state law that when a bond issue did not pass it could not be repeated for at least another year. These elections are expensive - workers to be paid, printing of ballots and all that goes with it and if the l&w is as I know it, then WHY? . " Voters and taxpayers take a look into the situation which is going steadily worse. Why are there continued gimmicks created that we can get along without until the money is there? I repeat, we don't have to go backwards. We never have. Take inventory of the type of politicians we elect and find out if he is out for what he or she can get or for his country that fought for the freedom we all enjoy today. "It has come to pass that anyone who thinks he wants certain things can get enough like himself to form groups who invade and demand. This is why America became what it is up 'til now. .We did not . Mobs were created by people who had no education. Democracy is not perfect but it can't be beat. Let us all find out who is trying and doing what it takes to destroy it. Ogilvie'a proposed insecticide monitoring program for Lake Michigan and its tributaries in Illinois. "The proposed program is the most comprehensive program for detection of pesticides in our waters ever attempted in Illinois," said Clarence W. Klassen. technical secretary, when outlining the program to the board. The initialpesticide monitoring program will begin July 1 and will continue for (Hie year. The program calls for use of mussels within Pettibone creek and the Waukegan river, two of several areas of the lake subjected to inshore currents= Klassen said research has demonstrated that fresh-water^ mussels (clams) may be an effective sentinel system to detect large discharges of pesticides. Mussels are practically immobile organisms which pump large volumes of stream water through their bodies each day and feed upon particles filtered from the water.
