The young ladies are freshmen at the college, ma­ joring in nursing. Mr. and Mrs. Hettermann also called on their nephew, Ted Stilling, at the Col­ lege of St. Thomas in St. Paul. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schoe- wer attended the wedding of Miss Sandra Walenski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wal­ enski of Prairie View, and Rob­ ert King, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman King of Deer field, which took place at Holy Cross church in Deerfield at 3 p.m. last Saturday with the bride­ groom's brother, Father Thom­ as King, officiating. A recep­ tion followed in Wheeling. A reunion of the Blanner family was held at the home of Mrs. Robert Conway on Grand avenue recently. Forty folks were present from Waunakee, Wis., Rockford, Woodstock, Crystal Lake, Algonquin and McHenry to enjoy a buffet sup­ per and enjoyable evening of games and visiting for enter­ tainment. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Miller of Algona, Wis., were guests in the John Thennes home a few days last week and on Thursday accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Thennes to Stockton tdyis - it Father Clarence Thennes. Miss Holen Schneider of Chi­ cago spent Tuesday of last week in the Leo Thompson home. Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Schoen- holtz spent a few days last week with relatives in Stew­ art and Rochelle. Mrs. Catherine Paddock and son, Father Richard Paddock,' of Aurora, Mr. and Mrs. Mar­ tin Obenauf of Huntley, and Mrs. Tillie Engeln of Mount Prospect were among the out of town folks who called on relatives here and attended the doings at St. Mary's church Sunday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schae- fer have returned to their home in Woodland Hills, Calif., after a visit in the Sahlborg home in Palatine and with relatives and friends in this vicinity. Mrs. Gertrude Snell of Chi­ cago, a former resident here, is spending the week with her daughter, Mrs. Grace Rhine- hart. Mr. and Mrs. William Jor­ dan were in Chicago Saturday to attend the wedding of Phyl­ lis Anderson and Harry Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Merle Davis accompanied by Mr. and Mr3. Carl Courier of Marengo en­ joyed a few days last week at the Dells of Wisconsin. Miss Patty Pitzen, a student at Western university, Macomb, and Miss Kathy Pitzen of Mil­ waukee were weekend guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Pitzen. HIT-AND-RUN -- McHenry police officers are seeking the unidentified driver who struck the auto of Richard Sagers, 3615 N. Hamlin, McHenry (center, facing camera) last Friday eve­ ning, pushing it into the car ahead, which in turn, struck a third vehicle. The Sagers car was demolished. Sagers had parked at a meter on the south side of Elm street about 11 p.m. and left the car for about fifteen minutes. When he returned, he found his auto pushed onto the sidewalk, the left side crushed in. The other autos involved were owned by Ethel Wolff of 2904 W. Wit­ tinger of 7818 Highview drive, Wonder Lake, and husband of the former Miss Linda C. Kearney of Waukegan, was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation rib­ bon recently aboard the USS Long Beach. The ship is the world" s only nuclear-powered guided mis­ sile cruiser. It was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation for action in Vietnam during its 1968 deployment. In the citation, John Chafee, Secretary of the Navy, said that "The personnel of the Long Beach comba; team achieved an unprecedented record in anti- air warfare excellence which was highlighted by the success­ ful intercept, and ultimate des­ truction with carrier-based comba. air patrol, of three en­ emy aircraft with no losses of United States fighter aircraft."
