Based on the national theme, "Opportunity for All", Charley asks, "Even me?" as Lucy and Snoopy express approval. The popularity of 4-H around the world is emphasized by the globe and the names of many of the countries in which the program is carried out. On both sides are lists of projects available, in particular the ac tivities in which the Cloverleafs have par ticipated. PLAINDEALER PHOTO Here is the River -- to some an avenue or. then trek westward -- to others an obstacle to be crossed. Today it brings shiploads of needed supplies to the towns along its banks, carries their products to ware house and factory. Tomorrow it can escape those banks, leaving death and destruction in its wake. For the River must be ruled by man! Yesterday it brought pure water from mountain streams to thirsty lips. Then somebody made it his gutter. Like all our mixed blessings the River can help or hurt. It is just one of those gifts of God whose value will always depend on our good sense and initiative, our respect for God's intent and our concern for the needs of others *' Call it a by-product if you please -- but one of the results of foithful religious worship and service is that so many mixed blessings become real blessings! EARLY RETURNS ON CY CAMPAIGN ARE ENCOURAGING "Early returns from this year's Breath of Life campaign on behalf of the National Cys tic Fibrosis Research founda tion are extremely encour aging", it was announced by Victor D. Spatafora of Lake Forest, the Lake and McHenry counties bank headquarters for the Greater Chicago chapter of the National Cystic Fibrosis Re search foundation. Mr. Spata fora stated that close to 4,000 Lake and McHenry county res idents are marching their blocks on behalf of the National Cystic Fibrosis Research foun dation. The Foundation's expanded program now includes Cystic Fibrosis, asthma lung damage, chronic bronchitis, and emphy sema in children. Of these, Cystic Fibrosis is the most common serious chronic dis order of American infants and children a disorder which causes the body to produce a thick gluey mucus which clogs the lungs. Sheriff Joseph I. Woods is the Greater Chicago Chapter's Campaign Chairman and his youngest daughter, Rosemary, has C/F and is the Founda tion's National Poster Child. Sheriff Woods, speaking on behalf of Mr. Spatafora and the Greater Chicago Chapter, PG. 10- PLAINDEALER - urges everyone who has not completed their marcher as signment to please do so as soon as possible and return their marcher kit as instructed. SHOP IN McHENRY ! TELL CHRISTIAN SCIENCE TOPIC NEXT SUNDAY "Are Sin, Disease, and Death Real?" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon to be read this Sunday in McHenry Christian Science church. The public is welcome to attend. "And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them." This pas sage from Matthew is included in the sermon. One of the cor relative passages from the de nominational textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scrip tures by Mary Baker Eddy, is as follows: "Sickness, sin, and death, being inharmonious, do not originate in God nor belong to His government. His law, rightly understood, destroys them." Sevices beginning at 10:30 a.m. will be held at Christian Science society church, Lincoln road and Eastwood lane. FRIDAY.
