YOUNG Delegates at the fifty-fifth annual meeting of the Illinois Agricultural association (state wide Farm Bureau) elected one new director and reelected the association's president, vice- . president, and eight directors in Chicago Thursday, Nov. 20. The new director, elected for a two-year term, is Jack L. Young, St. Charles. A Kane county farmer, Young was named IAA director from Dis trict I which consists of Boone, -^McHenry, Lake, DeKalb and Kane counties. He succeeds James P. Cannell, Capron, who reitred from the board after serving since 1963. Young is president of Young Brothers, Inc., a 2,200-acre grain and livestock farm near St. Charles. He is treasurer of Young Farms, Inc., a 200,- 000 poultry flock operation near Richmond. He has served as president of the Kane County Farm Bureau and as state chairman of the Illinois Farm Eighty - Seven Banks To Sell 1970 Licenses A total of eighty-seven banks throughout Illinois will sell 1970 passenger car license plates beginning Monday, Dec. 1, Sec retary of State Paul Powell has announced. This will be the fifth year various banks in the state have handled Illinois auto license plates. The First National Bank of Chicago began the service in December, 1965, with the sale of the 1966 plates, Secretary Powell stated. Mr. Powell emphasized that only passenger car plates will be sold, and only for renew al registrations. Applications for truck plates, transfers, cer tificates of title or original reg istrations can not be made at the banks. Services offered by the banks will be the same as those pro vided at the over-the-counter outlets of the Secretary of State's office in Springfield and Chicago, Mr. Powell said. Ap plicants will be given assis tance in filling out applications, their applications will be vali dated and the plates issued. Ap plicants must present their 1969 identification cards or in cases where the cards have been lost, their certificates of title. At their discretion, the banks may choose to charge an ad- dional fee for the service to offset the cost of a $6,000 validating machine each had to purchase, Secretary Powell said. Secretary Powell expressed gratification at the interest shown by banks in providing this service, pointing out that in each case arrangements for Bureau Young Farmers com mittee. He is a director of Ag ricultural Business Service company, an IAA affiliate. He is also a director of the Kane County Service company. NOW OPEN Main Street Variety 3909 W. MAIN ST. Facts of Interest A New Jersey scientist thinks he's found a way to get rid of old tires. He would expose them to a bacterium and a yeast-like fungus which, he says, like to live off old rubber. The tires would finally decompose. Two other suggestions for old tires:: Use them for river bank ero sion control and to construct artificial reefs for fish', Most pleasures are increas ed by division--and this one of the very few things of which this can be said. Rude, poor people are im polite: rude, rich people are eccentric. Things of beauty fade and die, just as surely as things of dis dain do. People die physically because of lack of food; they die men tally, due to lack of ideas. MOUNT nope cmmcii United Methodist 1015 West Broadway Pistakee Highlands Rev. Willis H. Father John Strzalka Pastor •0:* - The Bennetts lire here. That's Grandmother Bennett's Bible on the window sill, and the whole fam ily goes to the church across the snow covered field. John Bennett worts in the local hank.. Marsha, his wife, is president of the PTA, and they have three lovely children. Grandmother Bennett has been living with them for the past couple of years, since she broke her hip. She can't always get to church in wintertime and that's why she calls this her win dow. When she can't be in church, it helps to be able to see it. To her, the church steeple represents a great many things, and brings back many memories. Her son was married in that church. Her husband was buried from it. Her grandchildren were christened in it. The Church has helped her to bear grief, in hours of sorrow; and it has seemed to put a benediction upon her happiness, in times of joy. Most important of all, whatever the occasion, whatever the crisis . . . the Church has always been there. To Grandmother Bennett, the most comforting thing in the world is knowing that it always will be there. Scriptures selected by fhe American Bihle Society Copyright J'KIf) Krister AHrertinmy Se Int .
