Senior Citizen Card Group Formed The newly organized card group of the McHenry Senior Citizens club began Thursday with an attendance of thirty- five Senior Citizens. The card group will meet from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thurs day afternoons (until further notice) in the Senior Citizens room at Landmark school. Mrs. M.A. (Mary) Wood be assisted by Ann Rehfinge and these ladies will be very happy to supply any further information desired in regard to this group and itsactivities. Tables have been ordered for this room; however, until they arrive it will be necessary for the members of this group to bring their own card tables. Anyone who wishes to leave a card table at the school until the new tables arrive will find ample storage room until the new tables arrive. There will be card sessions on Thursday, Dec. 11, and Dec. 18, however, there will be no card playing on Christmas and The first meet- group in the new year will be on Thursday, Dec. 8. DON PEASLEY PH( Karen Sue Justen was a lovely bride on Saturday, Dec. 6, when she walked up the aisle of Christ the King Catholic church, Won der Lake, to meet her bride groom, Mr. Randall Lee Funk. Fr. R. Conro officiated at the 3 o'clock ceremony, for which organ music was played by M. Broehl of Wonder Lake. Bas kets of red and white flowers decorated the altar. Miss Justen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald M. Justen of 4308 W. Ringwood road* McHenry, and Mr. Funk is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Merwin D. >Funk of 4481 Rt. 1, Wayland, Mich. The bride selected an A- line dress of silk-faced satin, tiny tucked, with Venice lace at the bodice and hem, and flares in the full, Juliet sleeves. The dress had a detachable chapel train. The yeil was two- tiered illusion, elbow length, trimmed with Venice lace and seed pearls. Miss Justen car ried a cascade of red sweet heart roses. Terry Justen of McHenry at tended her sister as maid of honor and Sharon Klapperich of McHenry, a friend, acted as bridesmaid. They wore scar let velvet, A-line dresses with long sleeves, white bibs of val lace and headpieces dyed to match. Each carried a white muff trimmed with green holly. Richard Pitcher of Wayland, Mich., a friend of the groom, served as best man and grooms men were Terry Henderson of Wyoming, Mich., a brother-in- law. Donald L. Justen of Ann Arbor. Mich., brother of the bride, and Ivan Kibby of Way- land, the groom's brother-in- law, were ushers. Mrs. Justen chose a silver and white dress, silver acces sories and a corsage of red roses. Mrs. Funk wore a kelly green dress, gold accessories and a white rose corsage. Later, 150 guests gathered at Tomasello's, Johnsburg, for a reception. After a trip into Wisconsin, the newlyweds will reside in Grand Rapids. The bride is a McHenry high school graduate. Her fiance is a 1968 graduate of Wood stock high school and presently is employed in Crystal Lake. No wedding date has been set. For "Y" Youths • The Lake Region YMCA Vrill conduct a. Holiday Junior high dance for seventh and eighth graders who are residents of the Y's fourteen-community service area towns on Friday, Dec. 12, at the Lakewood vil lage hall, 2500 Lake avenue, in Crystal Lake. The doors to the hall will open at 7:10 p.m. and dancing begins at 7:30 p.m. and continue until 10 p.m. Youth are requested to wear school dress for all dances and conduct themt ilves in an or derly fashion. The YMCA con duct policy further requires that no one will be admitted to the hall after 8 p.m. and no one may leave before 10 p.m. unless accompanied by an adult. Parents are requested to see that their youth are picked up from the dance promptly at 10 p.m. All of the dances are well supervised by adult couples who have volunteered their time to attend and assist in making pleasant, entertaining affairs. The dances are free to YMCA members and there is a small charge per dance to non-mem bers. Refreshments are served during the dancing, free of charge. Valley View PTO Will Hear Music Program The Valley View Parent Tea cher organization will meet in the school cafeteria on Thurs day, Dec. 11, at 1:30. Accord ing to Mrs. Nena Thornton, president, there will be a short business meeting preceding the special Christmas program. The sixth grade students, un der the direction of Mrs. Hol lander, will present a program of Christmas music. The Valley View PTO has been actively working to pro mote communications between parents and school. Two new committee chairmen were introduced at the board meeting held on Dec. 5. Mrs. Arlene Koeller will handle publicity and Mrs. Jean Schiller will be in charge of special student needs. Mrs. Evelyn Eppel, member ship chairman, reported that the membership contest will be ex tended into January. The room having the highest percentage of parent members will win a cash award. Books purchased by the PTO will be on display after the program, according to Miss GREGORY GRAMS MYRA LINDMARK BETROTHAL TOLD -- Plans are being made for the forthcoming marriage of Miss Myra Lindmark, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Lindmark of 1011 N.Chicago avenue, Arlington Heights, and Gregory Grams, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Grams of Volo. They will be married next Jan. 17 in St. Peter's church, Volo. Miss Lindmark attended Harper Junior college and studied business before joining a large utility company in Arlington Heights. AND MRS. » Miss Meyers Wed Saturday A wedding of interest was solemnized Saturday, Dec. 6, at 3 p.m. when Miss Mary Lynn Meyers exchanged nuptial vows with Mr. Michael Doherty. Miss Meyers is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer G. Meyers of 2406 W. Johnsburg road, Mc Henry, and Mr. Doherty is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Doherty of 3711 W. Lee street, McHenry. Rev. Fr. Michael Tierney officiated at the double ring cer emony performed in St. John the Baptist church, Johnsburg. The church was decorated for the occasion with vases of flow ers, and pews were marked with bows. Given in marriage by her father, pretty Miss Meyers se lected an original gown made of white satin. It was floor length with modified empire, A-line, stand-up collar and long, fitted sleeves. Pearls and beading decorated the sleeves and above the empire waist and back. The scalloped train was also made of white satin attached with a bow in back at the waist. Her headpiece was a Juliet bonnet with matching beads and pearls, bouffant veil to the elbow. She carried a bouquet of white roses and stephanotis. Patricia Meyers of Johns- Joey Meyers, brother of the bride was ring bearer. Mrs. Meyers selected a pink georgette-chiffon dress with matching accessories and a corsage of pink and white roses. Mrs. Doherty wore a light blue jacket dress, silver acces sories and a corsage of yel low and white roses. A reception followed the cer emony at the K. of C. hall, with 125 guests in attendance. Julie Miller circulated the guest book. Later, the couple left for a trip to Fontana, Wis. Upon their return, they will reside at Volo. The former Miss Meyers is a 1967 graduate of McHenry high school and attended Nor thern Illinois university for two years. She is a secretary at the McHenry State Bank. DEC. 10, W69 Karen Justen Married In Dec. 6 Rite Pi Alpha Unit Closes Rushing Season This Fall The McHenry Pi Alpha chap ter of Beta Sigma Phi is end ing its fall rushing program. Two rushing parties were held, one in October and one in Nov ember. Sorority members brought guests to a pot-luck dinner and hat party at the home of Mar ilyn Konold. Guests for that evening were Pauline Rothlis- berger, Jackie Hurt, Joyce Ad ams, Kay Bauer, Linda Par- tenheimer and Janet Anderson. Following the delicious meal, Pauline Rothlisberger was a- warded first prize for making the most original hat. Games am) a social hour were enjoyed by all. A pizza and card party was held at the home of Maria White. Guests attending were Mary Lou Owen, Jeannie De- Vries, Pauline Rothlisberger and Joyce Adams. The model meeting was held at the home of Carole Kemosky. Pauline Roth lisberger was presented a yel low rose during a welcoming ceremony. Pauline transferred membership from a chapter in Bowling Green, Ohio, to the local chapter. Pi Alpha members met at the home of Maria White for a reg ular monthly meeting on Dec. 1. Service projects for the com ing year were discussed. Plans for a sorority Christmas par ty and also a dinner party for members and husbands were announced.
