lilt 19436 A mix Arnold J. Rauen (left), president, Bank for Savings and Loan Associations, 39 S. LaSalle, Chicago, joined with chief sponsor Rep. Frank Annunzio, Democrat, Chicago, in marking passage and signing of the 1970 Housing Bill, one provision of which specifically designates the unique bank as a qualified recipient for deposits that can be carried as liquid assets on the records of customer savings anc^loan associations. ank For Savings Ana Loan Achieves Liquidity Approval The only bank of its kind in the country, the Bank for Sav ings and Loan Associations is owned by 179 Illinois state char tered savings and loan associ ations performing a central re serve function for the industry. The existence of the bank was threatened last year when the Federal Home Loan Bank board revised existing regulations to exclude the bank's deposits from the liquidity classifica tion, necessitating the legisla tion, H.R. bill 19436. "Passage of this bill will have far-reaching effects onthe housing industry in Illinois," Rauen commented. "The entire" construction industry, plus sav ings and loans throughout the state, are indebted to Congress man Annunzio for his tireless efforts in guiding this legisla tion through the CongresS, which^in effect, prevented des truction of a private enterprise through regulatory fiat." The Bank for Savings and Loan Associations currently has assets in excess of $27 million. Mr. Rauej), Bank for Savings & Loan Associa tions' president, resides at 2721 Regner road, Pistakee Bay, Mc- Henry. MEANWHILE BACK AT THE COURTHOUSE" . - BRANCH COURT ill Magistrate William J.
