Success Marks Entry In State County Queen Contest Success for the third straight year has marked McHenry county's participation in the Miss Illinois County Fair con test as Cindy Bird, reigning Miss McHenry County, gained ttie finals at last week's con test. Cindy, 17, who won the Miss McHenry County title last Au gust while competing as Miss Crystal Lake, was the youngest among the finalists. The winner was a 19-year-old college soph omore from Bureau county. Last year Debbie Brady, Har vard, ranked in the top ten while two years ago Carol Par- rish, Crystal Lake, gained the select group. Much of the success for Miss McHenry County candidates can be attributed to Mrs. Lyle Kleckner, Charles Weingart, president, observed this week. Her ability to train the candi dates and to instruct them in many of the attributes requir ed to gain the finals were evi dent throughout Miss Bird's participation, he said. A total of fifty-four county fair beauty queens sought the Miss Illinois County Fair title during the annual meeting of county fair officials.
