A few more field goals by the Canes in the third and fourth quarter could have made vthis a closer game. (Continued from page 1) "This is the only rehabilitation center of its kind in McHenry county and the number of patients is in creasing at a rapid rate," Cooke reported. "We serve the physical therapy needs of all referred patients, both long- term and short-term patients. Out-patient services are available regardless of the nature of the affliction. Our goal is to help people in need of restorative treatment become happier, more productive members of the community." One objective during this year's Easter Seal campaign is to encourage medical doctors to become more familiar with the facilities, equipment and personnel so they can refer patients to the Therapy center in Woodstock when the help available will benefit their patients. 1st Marian 13 Notre Dame 15 Varsity - Notre Dame 62- Mar ian, 54 i# Varsity" action witnessed ^ Coach Grover and his Hurri canes short by eight points as time ran out. Marian's loss of this game can be attributed to their not hitting the baskets in the first half and having rebound trouble throughout the entire game. Hil- linger, from Notre Dame, did a good job on the boards which gave the Dons the extra field goals they needed. John Bolton put out a lot of hustle in the game and was leading rebound- er for Marian. On offense, Randy Jackson led the Canes attack with 20 points and was followed by John Bolton and Gary Harrison who combined for 22 points. The scoring for Notre Dame was done mostly by Stratton who poured in 11 field goals, but in the freethrow department Notre Dame went 0 for 9 compared to Marian's 14 for 22. ,» Notre Dame managed to win this one because of their ex tra work on the boards. Marian opens the district basketball tournament this week at Cary-Grove. 13 THE MONTINI MUSTANGS captured first place in the Tri-County Conference with a fine 9-1 record. An an nouncement will probably have been made setting the date by the time you read this. Since the Clay-Bonavena fight, in which the tough South American was knocked out for the first time in his career, many boxing experts have con cluded Clay was not as potent as he was three years ago and that Frazier * s h ou Id be the favorite in the coming heavy weight title match. These enthusiasts overlook the fact that Clay did what Frasier couldn't do-knocked out a man Frazier fought twice. They overlook the fact that Clay is certain to be better for the Frazier fight than he was in the Bonavena fight, since that was only his second fight in three years and the first in that time to go the distance. Moreover, Clay came very close to getting Bonavena in the 9th, as he had predicted he would, and one suspects had the fight taken place three y e a r s a g o C l a y c o u l d h a v e finished him off in that round. Clay is the heavy favorite in the coming match. Frazier is better than he was and he definitely has a chance against the former champion but Clay is faster and has a solid punch with either hand and if he is careful he can very likely win on points, because heJH fast er afoot. FUEL SHORTAGE Illinois will face a drastic fuel shortage if current em phasis to reduce air-pollution forces major energy users to switch to low-sulfur coal, ac cording to an independent two- If it turns into a slugging match, Frazier might catch him and it might also be the other way around. Frazier will probably be going for that kind of fight. year study financed primarily by the federal government. The study warns that the predicted shortage "gives no promise of relief by importation of low- sulfur coal from alternate sour ces or by substituting other fuels which are currently in short supply in the areas of their primary use." On the- bright side, should an "orderly changeover" be made from high to low-sulfur coal use within about a five-year period, no significant fuel shortage would develop, but costs would rise, the study indicated.
