GOP Committee Will Sponsor Dinner Dance Linda Merrill, who has per formed with such notables as Bob Hope and Jimmy Durante, will be featured at the McHen ry Country club, Friday, March 19. The unique and versatile singing comedienne is being presented by the McHenry Township Republican Central committee. Miss Merrill, who has thrill ed audiences from coast to coast, including this area, has emerged as one of America's most provocative and dynamic personalities. She has appeared on stage, television and radio in cities across the country. Many of her engagements have included shows and state fairs with Bob Hope. Cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:30, with the show following. There will be dancing later in the eve ning. » Reservations may be made with township chairman, J.R, Levesque, Anthony Varese, County Chairman A1 Jour dan, Jr., or any of the township committeemen. Arrangements may also be made at the Coun try club. Chilly morning breakfast time calls for smoked sausage links served with scrambled or fried eggs. For children, slice the pan- fried links lengthwise and sand wich between slices of toast. The versatile baked potato lends itself to a variety of top pers. Here's one that may be new to your family. Cut a cross on top of each potato just before serv ing, press up, then top with deviled ham mixed with a little cheese. Dress up canned baked beans with slices of canned luncheon meat and sauteed onion slices sprinkled with paprika. Do this before baking in a casserole to heat the beans. Don't rob pork cuts of flavor and eye appeal by over-cooking. Research at Iowa State Univer sity, financed by the National Live Stoclc and Meat Board, estab lished 170 degrees F. as the most desirable internal temperature at which to roast fresh pork. For a dieter's tropical compote, toss Vfe cup grapefruit sections, V2 small tangerine, sectioned, and l/2 slice pineapple, cubed, with 1 marshmallow, cut into eighths. Squaw Work? Even American Indians made a primitive form of sausage. Chop ped, dried meat was combined with dry berries, then pressed into a cake to eat when fresh meat was scarce. Horseless Power Horseless power is greater than ever down on the American farm. There are more than three mil lion trucks today on less than three million farms. Cowboy Fan# Aborigines in Australia's cattle country so admire American mov ie cowboys that they wear wrang ler's clothing whether they work stock or not.
