Culler, special representative of the Watch- tower Bible and Tract society of New York. Mr. Culler is a traveling minister who encour­ ages and assists the spiritual growth of sixteen congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses in northern Illinois. He arrived March 9 to spend six days with the congregation in Woodstock. His weekly activity, along with other members of the congregation, will include call­ ing on the homes of people in the community encouraging adherence to God's righteous principles as the solution to mankind's problems. "Wethink many will agree that the fu­ ture of the earth's society de­ pends on people who are mo­ tivated by these principles," Fontana added. He and his men had to sit out all night in the jungles without any ammunition. They have had a lot of close calls and wish it were over soon. Let us pray for him that God will protect him and many others. He has hopes of coming home for a few weeks soon and that will be a happy event. The Doremeyers think our mail man is the great­ est. NEWS BITS Mr. and Mrs. William Wil­ son, 4607 Ashley, and Mr. Wil­ son's mother, Mrs. Juhl, were at Rockford to see the high waters and the huge icebergs in the Rock river. The flooding was terrible. During Mr. Culler's visit a group will meet at the house of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Wherman of Lakeland Park, on Thursday, March 11, for the purpose of organizing the ministerial ac­ tivities for the day. They visited Clara's SOT and daughter-in-law in Jackson­ ville, where the temperature was 22 degrees. From there they went to Tarpon Spirngs and spent a delightful afternoon with Cy Young of McHenry. Then out to Tampa and beauti­ ful Beach Gardens. Then they spent 2y2 days at Port Char­ lotte visiting Clara's lifelong friend Marie Sandall of Des Plaines. Then from there they went to visit Grace's daughter and family in Miami. It was in the 70's there and it was delightful. They spent a day in Miami Beach and swam in the ocean. From there they went up the East Coast back to Jack­ sonville to say goodby to C lara's relatives. ThenontoHuntsville, Ala., to meet Grace's cousins. It was a very enjoyable trip for them, but it was good to be back to Whispering Oaks and find the snow all had disap­ peared. Mrs. John Quanstrum had a birthday March 5. Her brother, Charles Kruger, from Sleepy Hollow, Dundee, had a birth­ day yesterday, so they had a birthday cfinner together then. Happy birthday. MOURN DEATH OF RESIDENT All of Whispering Oaks and Pm sure many other commun­ ities were saddened to hear of the sudden death of Marie Ther- ens of 4605 Sussex Drive on Sunday, March 7. She was a wonderful neighbor, a good friend, a helpful worker, a great grandmother, an understanding listener and a perfect mate to her husband, Harold. She will be greatly missed. Visitation was held at the Lauderburg & Oh- ler Funeral home in Arlington Heights. Services were being held today, Wednesday, at St. James church, Buffalo Grove. Two Vehicles Destroyed By Rre Last Week Two car fires required the attention of local firemen last week. The first occurred Tuesday evening in Eastwood Manor, where James Dutty was sal­ vaging parts from an old car parked outside the garage. As he cut off the steering wheel with a welding torch, a spark evidently fell on the upholstery and the car was set afire. The second fire, of undeter­ mined origin, destroyed an a- bandoned car parked at Johns- burg. Electrically heated homes are popping up everywhere. Managers Form Boys Baseball Directors' Board The managers of Wonder Lake boys baseball met Wed­ nesday, Feb. 24, at the home of Henry Schau. The men decided they would be responsible for running all the baseball bus­ iness of the organization and form the board of directors. Mr. Schau will retain presi­ dency, but will act as fund- raising chairman with Ernie Vogt as co-chairman. Plans are in the offing for the annual dance. The dance will be held Saturday, „ May 15, at Christ the King church hall. RESIDENT DIES Mrs. Julia Koon, 4321E. Lake Shore Drive, died Monday, March 1, in Memorial hospital, Woodstock. Jack, an architect, is associated with a prominent Chicago architectur­ al firm. Dolores is very ac­ tive in both school and church work. Their oldest daughter, Debbie, after attending college for a year, is now doing sec­ retarial work. Laura will be graduating from Walther high school in Melrose Park this year.
