• I V Hf - PUBLIC PULSE (The Plaindealer invites, the public to U9e this col umn as an expression df their views on subjects of general interest in our community. Our only re quest is that writers lim it themselves to 300 words or less - signature, full address and phone num ber. We ask too; that one individual not write on the same subject more than once each month. We re serve the right to delete any material which we consider libelous or in ob- jectional taste.) FROG FABLE "Editor: "Once again a reminder to the citizens ofjthis once great U.S.A. to concentrate on that day in November, 1972, when we will decide with our vote who is going to try to do what the majority of the people need to improve the situation or who is going to get a stronger shoe box. Any business that wants to remain in business takes in ventory once a year to see what the score is. Let us do the same while there is time left. "We were told by the news media and all of the other modern media wjjich we get so freely that our/constitution is too old and needs to be modernized. "In order to get the popular vote we were told that we need to get rid of the unfair personal property tax. So we complied and a convention was held at a great expense to the taxpayer- so many days at so much per day- besides extra paper work and we voted on a new up-to- date constitution. Since then we have had a state income tax and other goodies to increase the needs of the state--higher education, etc. "And now in this month of July, 1971, we are told that the law is not constitutional, and we have to pay as usual until some other gimmicks replace it by 1979. It is time we give thought and put people in office who, regardless of the label, are Americans first before it is too late. "The time has come to stop tearing up roads, building new buildings that we can well get along without until the excess spending is curtailed, and get back to normal again. The story of the frog who bragged to the other frogs that he could blow himself larger than any other frog and finally blew himself to bits should be taken heed of, for when that time comes we will all pay the price. "At my time of life I should not care for I come from a generation of playing with bean •^r bags instead of all of the modern ideas of today. But I do leave behind loved ones that I done my best to raise in an honest way for the good of the whole human race and am selfish enough to hopig to leave this world as it was meant to be for the right people. "Mrs. Nettie Sarley "Lakemoor" HELPING .PAWS 1 by Carol Wilyat 459-0511 We have had many instances when people have called asking us to take their pet because they are moving away the next day.
