Stock Car PAGE 7-PLAINDEALER-FRIDAY, JULY,16, 1971 CORNER McHenry's Bob Anzinger became the second new feature winner in the late model class this weekend at the Waukegan Speedway as he )von the 30 lap main in near/ Record time. Nineteen cars Started the race and they all finished, with 11 of them on the same lap with the leader Cheryl Arndt of Milwau kee won the Hobby stock feature and she did set a new track record there as well as in the fast heat race. Fourteen of 18 starters finished that race. Anzinger, who now plans to race regularly at Waukegan on Sunday evenings, outdistanced Ray Young of Dolton in the •hird heat race and then got a break early in the feature which enabled him to build up a good lead. Above is a photo of the beautiful site and home of the Northern Illini Bowmen, the sponsor of the safari. This site is located on Draper road, a mile west of McHenry. The two day safari on July 17 and 18 will have bowmen shooting at life size, styrofoam targets of elephants, zebras etc. During the event, spectators are invited to try some shooting at the practice range or just watch the fun. T PLAINDEALER PHOTO Ingleside Boy Vandals Set Dies In McHenry Boats Afloat Of Crash Injuries v\\ir A 10-year-old Ingleside boy who was seriously injured in an auto accident that claimed the life of his father, died at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday in McHenry hospital. He was Frank Affetto, Jr., who was a passenger in an auto driven by his father, Frank J. Affetto of 1512 Grand avenue, Ingleside, who died July 10 in a two-car crash on Rt. 132, at Ridge avenue, near Ingleside. The collision occurred at 7:40 a.m. when a car driven by Martin C. Miller of Fox Lake reportedly went through a stop sign and colled with the Af fetto vehicle after Martin's brakes failed. Committees Appointed In District 156 High School District 156 this past week announced a list of committees to function this year. Howard Weiss and Carl Neiss have been named to head transportation services; Clint Claypool, Howard Weiss and Lloyd Freund, budget; and Freund, Clint Claypool and Ed Neumann, building. Neumann, Neiss and Catherine Alvary will be in charge of negotiation and salary needs; Weiss and Claypool, policy; and Mrs. Alvary and Neiss, insurance. Large Loss In Fire Damage At McHenry Residence Damage totaling $2,500 resulted from a grease fire in the Richard Peterson home, 718 Country Club drive, McHenry, last Saturday afternoon. Most seriously burned were the refrigerator . and kitchen cabinets. An explosion of un determined origin resulted in firemen rushing to the Lakeland Car Wash last Monday morning. There was no estimate of damage made. An investigation is continuing. There was no damage reported in a fire which broke out in the auto of Lawrence Kunkel, Pistakee Highlands, as he drove in Lakeland Park on Friday. POLLIFAXSPY' J Just after midnight Sunday night, a resident of White Oaks Bay, Wonder Lake, was walking past the beach in that subdivision and .observed several boats floating away from the piers. Neighbors in the area were summoned and eight of the boats which had been set adrift were retrieved. Vandals had set the boats free by un- snapping mooring chains and cutting ropes. The boats seemed not to have been damaged. Norman Hooker of 3401 S. Wright road, McHenry, in formed county authorities that his auto, which had been parked in the driveway the evening of July 6, had been damaged by vandals. Gashes were found on the hood, the roof had been ripped and the an tenna was broken. Deaths JAMES McCANN James McCann, 61, died July 11 in Elmhurst hospital. He was an employee of the American Steel Treating Co., Terra Cotta. Survivors are his mother, Bessie McCann, of Villa Park; two daughters, one son and three sisters.
