"Getting to know you" might well be the theme for this big moment. Jimmy finds his teacher, Mrs. Roberta Mullen, pretty and friendly. One of the young life is first, hesitant step away "nest" to encounter the wonders of school. This experience came to hundreds of McHenry area youngsters last week. Some cried, others refused flatly, but most of them were filled with enough curiosity to push fear into the background and give this great, new world a chance. The wisdom and mothering in stincts that seem to characterize kindergarten teachers helped to soothe frayed nerves and calm the most timid. The result was a sur prising number of smiles borne out of a pleasant half day of classes. One of the little ones who em barked on the long educational road was Jimmy Sharp, 5-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Sharp, Jr. The Plaindealer photographer followed his moods and his footsteps from the door of the family home at 1508 N. Court street into the classroom at Landmark school, where he met a new friend, his teacher, Mrs. Roberta Mullen.
