Tbe contestants will sing behind a screen and the voice will be carefully judged. He will be required to have three selections in readiness. Mrs. Florence Ray, chiropr­ actor, has opened an office in the Fich. building, corner Riv­ erside drive and Pearl street. Mrs. Ray has been associated with Dr. W.M. Silverman at Woodstock. Mr. and Mrs. John Fisher are the new proprietors of the Royal Blue store on Riverside drive where they succeeded Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Brown, coming here from Franklin Park. Clarence Peterson of Pista- kee Bay, well known in this vi­ cinity was one of the wrestlers on tiie card at the Woodstock festival. Mrs. William Kelly, Alice Wilcox and Viola Rager of Ring- wood spent a few days at Hal­ leluiah camp, Oregon, Wis. ' Mr. and Mrs. Jack Walsh and son. Farl, visited in the Anthony McSwiggin home in Chicago. Miss Floribel Bassett, who will be a September bride, was guest of honor at a miscellan­ eous shower given by Mrs. Pe­ ter M. Justen at her home on Waukegan street. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Purvey attended the wedding of Mrs. Purveys sister-in-law, Ida Wi- edrick Compton and John Rey­ nolds of Woodstock Saturday ev­ ening. Fritz Kruse and Fritz Oetting and Mrs. F lo­ rence Zarnstorff of Richmond returned recently from a fishing trip with the proof. A thirty pound Muskie which they landed while fishing in Northern Wis­ consin at Lake Gilmore. A wedding of great beauty was solemnized at St. John's church, Johnsburg, Aug. 24, when Miss Leona Smith of John­ sburg became the bride of Mr. William F. Meyei-of Johnsburg, Rev. A.J. Neidert performed the nuptial rites. A family reunion was held recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John I'reund honor­ ing Miss Mary Ann Freund, who will enter St. Joseph's con­ vert, Milwaukee, Wis., on Aug. 30. Mrs. John Bolger and child­ ren, John J. and Mary Ann, Miss Genevieve Knox of Mc- Henry and Miss Mary Cather­ ine Ashton of Evanston return­ ed recently from a week's trip on I^ake Michigan. C.I). Schoonmaker of Genoa, 111., formerly editor of the Plaindealer called on old fri­ ends here last week. Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Freund, son, Donald, daughters, Marga­ ret and Marion, returned from Topeka, Kans., this week. They were accompanied home by Bertha Freund, who completed her nurse's training there. Mrs. Louis Winn and Miss Lona Brevor were hostesses 1971 • at a stork shower for Mrs. Wi­ lliam Hoffman at the Pearson I home in Ringwood. TEN YEARS AGO . (Taken from the files of Aug. 31. 1961) The famous legend of Hiawa­ tha, a Mohawk Chieftain of the 16th century, comes to life in colorful dance and song at Look­ out Point subdivision, Sept. 2. A two hour pageant by a pro­ fessional cast of forty - five young men and women. A Mcllenry Shores woman, Mrs. Emily^Reznicek, suffer­ ed injuries and her sister was killed when they were struck by a car as they were cross­ ing a street in Mundelein on Sunday evening. Twenty-six local youngsters participated in the Junior Cha­ mber of Commerce bicycle ro­ deo held Saturday at the Mc­ llenry high school parking lot. Winners of the • various age group in the rodeo were Geo­ rge Whiting, 5 to 8 age group; l)avid McNish, 9 to 11, and Charles Coles, 12 to 15. The Pony League season ca­ me to a close Sunday and it was the decision of the officers to name the Sox and Braves as co-champions. A play off was planned, but dropped when found ttiat high school football prac­ tice was starting this week and many players would not be able to participate. Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Pepping of Green street have received word of their son, Jack's pro­ motion to assistant manager of the Gary, Ind., business office of Illinois Bell Telephone. Masonic rites were held Sat­ urday afternoon from the Peter M. Justen funeral home for Karl M. Bradley, 68, of Main street who died Wednesday evening while mowing lawn near the Heimer building at the corner of Main and Front streets.
