HOME FOR THE WEEKEND <iordon and Bobby Fossum a houseful over the Mr. BAPTISM and Mrs. Paul Walkington, Lee and Tom and Maya Stauber, Mrs. Clarence Adams, Jr., and Doug attended services at the First United Methodist church at Arlington Heights and witnessed the baptism of Jolie Dee Walkington, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Jay Walkington. They were dinner guests of Rev. and Mrs. Walkington in their home in Arlington Heights. GOODBYE Goodbye for awhile. In the evening the Walkingtons all bid a very sad goodbye to Maya Stauber as she boarded a plane to return to her home in Switzerland. Maya is returning to her job and home in Swit­ zerland until the spring when hopefully she will have received her permanent visa to come back and stay and become Mrs. Tom Walkington. See you in the spring, Maya. HAPPENINGS AROUND TOWN Mrs. Nellie Hepburn, with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Soddy of Kenosha, attended the Black- man reunion at Union Grove last Sunday. After the reunion, Mrs. Hepburn returned to Kenosha with her sister to spend a few days with them. Mrs. Hertha Skibbe of Park Ridge entertained Mrs. Nellie Hepburn of our town and Mrs. Earl Ogden of McHenry for lunch at her home. Other guests included Mrs. Ellen Scheel and Mrs. Sigrid Larsen of Park Ridge, Mrs. Marion Daniels of Glenview, and Mrs. Andrea Larsen of Buffalo Grove. Pleasant conversation and delicious food made it a most enjoyable day for everyone. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ogden entertained the Art Christopher family at their home for Sun­ day dinner. That was quite a race, boys -- Art on the 3- wheeled bike and Earl on the lawn tractor. On Sunday Nir. and Mrs. Allen Ainger and son, David of Hebron visited with Mrs. Ainger's mother, Mrs. Ruby Shepard. Twas Jackie's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Diericx, and their little one, Kelly. Ice cream and cake were the order of the evening to celebrate Tom and Ray Low's birthdays. A little late for Ray as his date was August 9 and Tom's was Sept. 7. Those to help eat the home-made ice cream and cake were Walt and Alice Mae Wilcox of Wood­ stock, Bob and Susie Low and Bobbie and Grandma Thomas all of McHenry. And of course Dave and Patti Miller and Lee and Mom, Dad and Pam, Ray and Tom. FIRST OF THE SEASON The first square dance of the season was a free, open dance for those who wanted to ex­ perience square dancing. Besides those already regulars from this area we found Jackie and Dick Crosby and Darlene and Larry Lehmkuhl kicking up their heels and really en­ joying it. Lessons are going to be on Monday nights and will begin on Sept. 20. If you are interested come to Edgebrook school on Monday night Sept. 20. If you don't make the first week you will still be able to start at the second or third lesson but after that the classes will be closed. SUNDAY SCHOOL Remember Sunday school has started for those youngsters and they will enjoy it. Time is every Sunday moaning at 11 a.m. at the Rmgwood church. We are still in need of one teacher and of course substitutes. Contact Rev. Walker if at an interested in helping. Next week we'll try to have a complete rundown on the Sunday School classes. BIRTHDAYS On Sept. 19 we find three cousins busy celebrating their birthdays, Ralph Ackerman, Harry Hogan and Leonard D. Ackerman; the twenty-first also finds a busy day with Ferol Tomlinson, Rog Bauer and Robert Mough sharing the same day, on the twenty-fourth little Tommy Parsley will have his second birthday. Have a very special day, and enjoy yourself. James Blum Heads Pupil Progress Group James Blum at Parkland school has been named chairman of the Pupil Progress Reporting committee for District 15. Two other members of the Curriculum council, Carolyn Oetjen and Donald Weichle, will assist Mr. Blum in the endeavor. This committee plans to have teachers at all grade levels represented. Previous pupil reporting methods will be reviewed, as well as con­ sultation from other school districts which have made recent changes in reporting HELPING PAWS by Carol Wilyat TIPPY Pictured this week is "Tip­ py" who loves to play so much he tore a ligament playing with a Great Dane. In Fox River Grove at 639- 3682 is "Jacque" a two and a half-year-old tan male part Pomeranian, "Patches", a one- year-old female, tan and white part Pomeranian and "Skid- dies", seven-month old female, brown and white part Pomeranian. These three dogs are housebroken and love to be around children. At 385-5528 is a six-week-old male, white and grey kitten pupil progress to parents. Mr. Blum extends an in­ vitation to parents and in­ terested citizens of McHenry to attend these meetings. The meetings are scheduled for Sept. 20 and 23. at the Ad­ ministration center on Main street from 3:45 to ap­ proximately 5 p.m. that is very playful and so cute! At 459-6628 in Crystal Lake is a one-year-old purebred male Wire Hair Terrier has had all shots, is housebroken and great with kids. At 459-9239 are five 6-week- old kittens, male and female, a variety of colors - black, grey and tiger, all litter trained. In McHenry at 385-5072 is a 10-week-old male brown with black markings, that resem­ bles a Schnauzer. His name is "Scotty", he sits up and is housebroken during day and paper trained at night. At 459-8290 is a six-month old male Old English Sheep Dog type, all white, has had his shots, needs a lot of love and also a fenced-in yard. At 459-9426 is an 8-month old male German Shepherd, housebroken; and a small female tiger kitten with white legs, that is very playful and litter trained. At 459-7539 are two 3- month old German Shepherd Labrador mix puppies; also a Shepherd Husky female dog. At 378 Poplar, Crystal Lake, are four 4-month-old half Persian kittens; 2 black and 2 grey. In Woodstock at 459-6707 is a 4VJ>-month-old male, part poodle Terrier Dachshund, brown in color and resembles the terrier. He is very playful and loves children. In Woodstock at 338-0132 are two 3-month old black Cocker mix puppies; a three- month old Collie mix; a three- month-old white Shepherd mix and a one-year-old male white Samoyed and Shepherd which resembles the Samoyed. All have good dispositions. Also at this number are three-month- old black and white kittens. At 459-0511 is "Patches", a three- month-old female muted calico kitten and "Sammy", a four-month old male part Siamese (he loves to talk to me) black with white chesi and paws. Both are litter trained. In Algonquin at 658-7666 is a two-year-old spayed female part German Shepherd, cream color, has had all shots, is housebroken and good with children. Also at this number is a four-month-old female black, mostly Cocker Spaniel, a four- month-old female black and white male part Collie and an eight-month-old female part Rottweiler, housebroken and has had a distemper shot.
