OPEN EV ERY DAY. 10 8 1015 IT PAYS TO ADVERTISE Helping Paws Animal Elfare association has announced with great satisfaction that its recent rummage sale, held on Valley View road, was an even greater success than an ticipated. Previous to the sale, the group had announced that it hoped to better last fall's sale total of $260 and had set a goal of $300 for this fall. However, due to the large amounts of rummage donated and to the steady stream of customers throughout the entire sale, the committee is able to report upon a much greater profit than anticipated. The final total proceeds amounted to a gratifying $780, triple the total of last year's sale. Helping Paws uses all proceeds and donations to provide food, care and medical attention for the stray animals under its supervision. This animal welfare group has also established a shelter fund in the hope that a badly needed animal shelter can someday be erected in the McHenry county area. Funds for this work are obtained through donations for animals placed, general free will donations, through membership dues and also through such fund raising events as the recent rummage sale, bake sales and the sale of pet equipment and hand made items. Scott Warns On Treatment Of Young Voters Illinois Attorney General William J. Scott has ruled that 18, 19 and 20 year-olds seeking to register must be given exactly the same treatment by election officials as applicants for voter registration who are 21 or over. "An applicant under 21 who applies for registration must receive the identical treatment and be subject to the same inquiries as apply to those over 21, " Attorney General Scott said. "This means also that voters under 21 must meet the per- m a n e n t r e s i d e n c e requirements; if there is a reasonable doubt that they do, their right to vote at the par ticular place where they registered is subject to DIVORCES : Peggy L. Kasper from Peter J. Kasper, McHenry. Evelyn C. Zick from Roy Ji Zick, Spring Grive. Nancy L. Ohlson from Clif ford R. Ohlson, McHenry. Joyce Hensley from Bobby Gene Hensley, McHenry. Phyllis Stinson from John Stinson, Wodner Lake. Constance L. Grasser from Gerald R. Grasser, MHenry. Agnes D. Boden from John F. Boden, McHenry. When picking a lifetime car eer -- pick a tough one, and you'll have much less compe tition. One fault with doing nothing- it* s so hard to stop and rest. challenge," the Attorney General said. Some County Clerks have been requiring students to produce a marriage certificate, a driver's license, proof of employment, or other special requirements before they would allow them to register. Scott said, "The present statutory requirements for registration in Illinois provide only for proof of age, six months residence in the state and thirty days in the precinct. Those requirements, and only those requirements, are ap plicable to registrants 18 years of age as well as those over 21.
