Running Warriors Make It 11-0 PAGE 7-PLAINDEmLER-FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8, 1971 Running in the friendly confines of their West Campus course, the running Warriors pushed their 71-72 dual meet record to 11-0, defeating the Dundee Cards 21-37. Leading the Warriors on this hot humid afternoon was Don Gerstein. Gerstein set the pace with a 16:34, John Seaton placed second, just four seconds behind his teammate. Don and John outran Schumacher and Jones, two tough Dundee Cindermc-n. Also finishing high for the Warriors were Diedrich, Haines, and McGibbon. Leading the defensive charge were Rick Freund who made 17 tackles and Kerry Decker who made 15. The entire defensive unit should be complimented for #their fine effort. After Dundee took a second half lead of 6-0 the Warriors led by Scott Fain and Jim Grabowski and Ray Buss came back to steal the victory in the fourth quarter. It was a 21 yard TD. pass from Fain to Grabowski that tied the game and an extra poinft pass from Fain to Buss that clinched the victory for the Warriors. Tim Wilt Sets Course Record As Soph Cindermen Win Tim Wilt led his teammates Wynveen 7 to victory as the young Warriors ran past Dundee's 22 young birds by a score of 22-37 Schuster 9 and set a new course record, Barnings 10 17:48. Name Auditor To State Toll Highway Group Gov. Richard B. Ogilvie has reappointed Jack R. Schaffer, Cary, county auditor of McHenry county, to the Toll Highway Advisory committee. His term will expire in July, 1973. The committee meets with the State Toll Highway authority and advises it on all matters of policy and ad­ ministration of the toll highway system. Schaffer is one of fifteen members appointed to the committee by the governor. In addition, five are members of the House, appointed by the speaker, and five are senators appointed by the Committee on Committees. Youngest elected county auditor in the state, Schaffer has been active in Republican politics and civic affairs since 1960 and is secretary-treasurer of the Illinois Association of County Auditors. In 1969 he was chosen by the Jaycees as one of the Outstanding Young Men of America. He serves on Gov. Ogilvie's Advisory board and is past chairman of the Illinois Young Republicans. Schaffer obtained his B.S. degree from Northern Illinois university, where he was a founder and president of the Northern Illinois University Young Republicans and feceived the Outstanding College Young Republican award. In 1966-67 he was with the U.S. Army. He served in Germany and was a sergeant. Schaffer resides with his wife Lynn and new son, Neal. at 8505 Wium road in Cary. DEARBORN George F.. Dearborn, 82, of 2515 S. Scheid, McHenry, died Oct. 6 in McHenry hospital. Mr. Dearborn was born May 8, 1889, in Illinois. He was a retired printer for an office supply company. The deceased was a veteran of World War I. flis wife, preceded him in death June 3, 1969. He leaves only one sister, Mrs. Gussie Ross, of DesPlaines. The body rested at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home after 3 o'clock Thursday. Services were held that evening at 8, with private interment. BILLIE JO PERRY Services will be conducted at 1 o'clock Saturday in Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church for Billie Jo Perry, 12, of 403 Herbert road, McHenry, who died in McHenry hospital Oct. 5 of injuries sustained when she was struck by a car one week previous. Pastor R.W. Schneider will officiate at last rites, followed by burial in Woodland cemetery. Other survivors are several brothers and sisters, Mitchell, Michael and David Perry, Vicky, Cindy, Mary and James Wallace, Jr.; also the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Maziarka of McHenry and the paternal grandmother, Christine Fentress of Chicago.
