Anderson, third- ranking Republican in the House of Representatives, has represented Illinois' 16th Congressional District since 1960. Elected Chairman of the House Republican Conference in January, 1969, he is one of several GOP Congressional leaders who meet weekly at the White House for policy discussions with President Nixon. Now in his fifth two-year term. Congressman Anderson has earned a reputation as a hard-working, competent legislator and one of the most effective speakers in the House of Representatives.
