HUNTING TRIP A couple of Wonder Lake's finest sportsmen, Joe Sullivan and Art Doyle, recently left the simple life in Wonder Lake for a ten day hunting adventure in the land where the deer and antelope still roam. Our hun ters mounted horses which took them through the wilds of Montana for a five day hunt for elk. Being on horseback for five days was an experience all its own. Sleeping in sleeping bags protected by a lean-to in some mightly cold weather was part of their "roughing it" and the meals prepared by their cowboy guide from cans couldn't compare with the good home cookin' by Sharon and Pat the fellows are accustomed to. Though the elk were unusually scarce for the beginning of the hunting season, Art and Joe were successful in their remaining five day hunt and are shipping home both deer and antelope. SILVER ANNIVERSARY Bud and Marilyn McMahon of St. Francis Heights are still overwhelmed following a party honoring their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary cm Oct. 31. Their children, Patrick and Cathy, arranged the event, beginning with a Mass at 8 p.m. at Christ the King church, followed by a buffet dinner and Kenneth T. Benjamin, chairman, Illinois State ASC committee, has announced that over 1,000 Illinois corn growers in twenty-six counties who could not find local storage space, have benefitted from the "reconcentration" of corn announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Oct. 22. Under this program, : a" producer who participated in the "set-aside" program can obtain a corn loan based on his own county loan rate, even though his corn is moved by CCC to a terminal destination for storage; further, a producer retains equity in his corn and can redeem his loan by a cash settlement, based on the local market price. This program is very beneficial mainly because of the record corn harvest and the back-up of the movement of GLAUCOMA Glaucoma, a leading cause of blindness, can now be diagnosed and treated more effectively than ever before, according to the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness. Of all the diseases affecting the eye and causing blindness, scientists seem closer to an understanding of its mechanism than that of any other unsolved eye condition. Those over 35 should have an examination by an eye doctor at least every two years, because it is during this time of life that glaucoma is most likely to develop. dance in the church hall for 140 guests. A Papal Blessing and money trees were among the gifts received by the couple. This program will have a benefit for all corn producers in Illinois in that corn which otherwise would have been sold on a distressed market can now be placed under loan until the market recovers. Vera An derson, county executive director, said farmers in the southeast area of the county are taking advantage of the Corn Reconcentration program and are shipping corn from the Seegers Grain Co. at' Crystal Lake. Farmers that cannot find a "home" for their corn are urged to contact their local ASCS office. POLITICAL CORNER Boyle Answers GOP Chairman On New Group Thomas Boyle, member of the Responsible Republicans Executive council, said that recent articles quoting A1 Jordan, chairman of the McHenry County Republican Central committee, are puz zling. Boyle pointed out this is particularly puzzling because the Central committee, which FESTIVAL SELECT CHORUS - This group of young musicians, evening. Boyle said, "Membership in the organization is open to any resident or taxpayer of McHenry who is 18 or more years of age and who sub- scirbes to the purposes of the organization." Prominent among the purpose, Boyle said, are a dedication to promote good, honest government on behalf of the general public; to seek fair, equitable and legal taxation; and to support constructive economy in government at all levels. Jordan's press release mentioned "one Republican committeeman who was turned away at the door." While true, Boyle said he thought it was not in the best interest of the Republican party to raise the issue because that person had been told the previous day that he really would not be welcome. Boyle continued, "The reason was that this man, at an open public meeting of the electors of his township, ac cused citizens of being mem bers of 'radical fringe elements' when they asked questions of their elected of ficials". Boyle commented that the Committee for the Seminar had decided it would not be ap propriate to subject guests to the possibility of such irrational and irresponsible abuses and that they did not want such an image of the Republican party to be created. Mr. Jordan is quoted as expressing a lack of knowledge "regarding the real purpose behind the formation of the group". This statement is surprising and we regret that he has forgotten," Boyle said. "Jourdan was told of the purpose of our organization, i.e., to seek good government of McHenry County, the State of Illinois, and the United States through the Republican party".
