We have but a few days of pre paration time remaining. Many of us are concerned with gift lists, with menus, and, per haps, travel plans as we head "homeward" for the holidays. Certainly, a part of this getting ready should be concerned with sur attitude toward the spiritual --and the true--significance o4 Christmas. Let us look about for the signs, for the evidence, that Christ is part of the world in which we live. Let us find some way to assure that this recogni tion will be evident in our per sonal observance. In this way, a happy Christmas becomes a certainty. 2+2+2 - Not only does Landmark school have a record enrollment this year, but also a record number of twins in school. J AXE'S Styling For Men By Appointment 385-7771 Answer Source Of Good In Man At Church Rite What is the source of all that is good in nature and man? This is a question to be considered at the McHenry Christian Science church Sunday in a Bible Lesson- Sermon entitled "Is the Universe, Including Man, Evolved by Atomic Force?" "The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord," a Scriptural passage to be read from Psalms states. Opening the commentary from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy is this citation: "In the Saxon and twenty other tongues 'good' is the term for God. The Scriptures declare all that He made to be good* like Himself, - good in Principle and in idea. Therefore the spiritual universe is good, and reflects God as He is." Services at Christian Science society, Lincoln road and Eastwood lane, begin at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome. If everybody spoke their minds, the world would soon be filled with silence. During the Civil War, the Confederates built a-_ double- barreled cannon, with the>( barrels angling outward a bit.) Hie idea was to put a can-; nonball in each gun, hook them together with a 50 or 75 foot chain, and fire them together, ^ and let the chain mow down "" enemy soldiers. It didn't work. . It is now on display on the^ courthouse lawn at Athens, Georgia. - 51 f ( 1 %/i# XCEIEBRATIONX A fragrant pine wreath festooned with a big red bow encircles the door knocker, a symbol of hospitality. Inside, the tree blazes with rainbow lights, and there is a tiny creche on the mantel. You light the red candles on the table and serve coffee and sandwiches and cake. The atmosphere is rich with warmth and friendliness. This is Christ's birthday and we are celebrating, and, in a magical way, it seems to instill in all of us a special feeling of friendship and love for our fellowman. What a wonderful thing it would be if we could keep this Christ mas spirit in our hearts all year long! To do so would be perfection -- and that is something none of us can quite attain. But through the Church we CAN keep faith and truth within us from one Christmas to the next.
