Here & There In BUSINESS Observes 25 Years' Service FRANCIS H. WIRTZ Francis H. Wirtz, plant service foreman for Illinois Bell, observed 25years' service Dec. 16. Joining the company in Woodstock as an installer in 1946, Wirtz has held various jobs in the company's plant department there and in the McHenry-Crystal Lake area. His present job responsibilities include supervising residence and switchboard installations and repairs in the Crystal Lake and McHenry areas. A graduate of McHenry Community high school, Wirtz served with the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946. He is a member of the McHenry Knights of Columbus, Men's Garden Club of America, Woodstock and Sinnissippi Council, Telephone Pioneers of America. Wirtz and his wife, Joan, live at 1508 No. Freund, McHenry. They are the parents of six children, Patrick, who is a student at Southern Illinois university ; Christopher, who is serving with the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg, N.C.; Anthony, Jill, Peter and Jennifer, at home. Country Club To Introduce Dinner-Theatre In In effort to bring good entertainment to the area, the McHenry Country club an­ nounces the inception of a dinner-theatre. This dinner- theatre will be held in the main dining room of the Country club and will feature live, "on stage" theatrical per­ formances for the general public. "The stage is innovative," said Tony Paluch. manager of the club, "as it is flexible for in- the-round or thrust type stage plays. "We hope to be ready by Jan. 27 to open with our first show," he said. The Country club will offer to the general public a package deal of a dinner and theatre show or persons may purchase the tickets individually. The name of the opening show will be George Axwlrod's smash Broadway hit, "Goodbye Charley". Gerald Pettera will be the director of the plays for the Country club. Auditions for "Goodbye Charley" will be held Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 8 p.m. at the McHenry club. All persons are urged to try out. There are parts for four men and three women. , "Y" TREE SALE The Lake Region YMCA Y's Men's club reports that this year's supply of Christmas trees has arrived and are now on sale in the parking lot of the Crystal Lake Plaza shopping center on Route 14. Thii annual |hee sale is held to raise funds for the Lake Region YMCA's Building fund and the Y's Men's Club Scholarship fund. Children 1 Rehearse For Christmas Program A Christmas program to be presented by the children of the Sunday church school will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 404 North Green street, McHenry, Sun­ day, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. The young people of the parish will present the Christmas pageant in drama and music form. The program was produced by Mrs. John McNish, Mrs. James Boelens, Mrs. Don Teuber and Mrs. Roger Schneider. Special lighting and sound equipment for the program is being provided by Norm Schmaling and installed by Harold Kivley and Gene Honning. Twin Fruit Pie 1 baked (8-inch) pastry shell Vz pound (1"4 cups) dried prunes XA pound (l'/3 cups) dried apricots Vz cup sugar „ 2 tablespoons *c®rn starch 2 teaspoons lemon juice 1 cup heavy cream (optional) Cook fruits in separate pans according to package direc­ tions. Drain each, reserving a total of 1 cup liquid. Pit prunes, if necessary. Cut fruits into bite size pieces. In a saucepan, mix together sugar and corn starch. Stir in reserved 1 cup juice and the lemon juice. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and cook until thickened and clear. Add fruit. Cool slightly and pour into baked pastry shell.
