PAGE 5-PLAINDEALER-FFRIDAY, DECEMBER 17, 1971 Shari Balfour, art student, and Dr. James Davis, president of MCC, display Shari's design for the college Christmas card. Select College Card Design A design by Shari Balfour, a freshman at McHenry County college, was chosen last week for the college's 1971 Christmas card. Out of about thirty designs submitted by MCC art students, Dr. James R. Davis, president, and Joseph Rybacek, coor dinator of Fine Arts, selected Shari's black and white ink drawing of the Madonna and Child. R e g a r d i n g t h e i r selection, Mr. Rybacek said, "Since Shari is a new student, this should be considered quite an honor, and it is a good indication of her potential as an artist." Shari, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Balfour, has lived in Crystal Lake for five years and is a graduate of Crystal Lake high school. She says she plans to be an interior decorator some day. When asked about her reaction to the news that her design would be used for the Christmas card, Shari replied, "I felt mostly surprised, since I'm a new student and didn't expect my drawing to be the one chosen."
