p Mobile n t ByInga Seven days from today Santa will be arriving and I hope all the snowmobilers get their wish, snow and a new snowmobile. This time of the year Christmas parties are the way of life and the snowmobile clubs are no exception. j Betty Graham, secretary of the Snowbugs sent me a note about their party. It reads: "The Oak Park Hotel Snowmobile Club, known as the "Snowbugs" had a real en joyable day Sunday, Dec. J2, even though no snow was in sight. A Christmas party was held for all the little folks whose parents and a few grand parents belong to the club. There were seventy-t^o youngsters and forty^eVen Oldsters. Delicious refresh ments were served. Santa Claus arrived about 1:30 and greeted everyone. All the little ones had their turn on Santa's lap with wide eyed adoration and received their gifts. The older children had group games. The older boys (fathers) spent much of their time watching Green Bay beat the Bears unfortunately. By the way Santa, if you would like to know what the Snowbugs would like for Christmas, I'd say about six inches of snow would fill the bill. For all the Snowbugs who are reading this column thanks for helping make our party a success. To all the other Snowmobile Clubs, we^would like to wish you the est snowmobiling holidays ver. Remember: Happiness is meeting another happy snowmobiler on the trail. The Polar Pairs of Rich mond, had their Christmas party the same day. Dorothy Adams was good enough to fill me in on the highlights of their party. Wouldn't you know, Santa Claus arrived by snowmobile, on green grass. It seems even dear old Santa doesn't have an "in" with the weather man. Forty children and twenty-five adults arrived to watch the grand entrance.. With Santa giving gift patches, cookies, hot chocolate for the kiddies, and something more appropriate for the adults to drink, I was told all had a wonderful time. Dorothy wanted me to be sure to remind all my readers about the great snowmobile race coming up Jan. 9 at Rudolph's Breezy Lawn Farm in Spring Grove given by the Polar Pairs Snowmobile Club. There is wonderful snowmobiling in the Wisconsin Dells this year. They have increased their trails and have a combined run of about 80 miles. We have been at Mirror Lake state recreation area and really enjoyed it. Besides Mirror Lake there are the Lower Dells and Stand Rock Campground. Since we have been there they had added lots more. Write to Chamber of Commerce P.O. Box 175, Wisconsin Dells, Wise., or phone 608-254-8088. They will send excellent trail maps in cluding their facilities which in some areas include a heated recreation hall, free T V., pool tables, ice skating area and even a clothes dryer for snowmobilers to dry their wet suits and gloves. The Wisconsin Dells area is really trying to develop its snowmobiling, I have received information that they have put out a toll free telephone number that is now in effect in the Dells country. They give information on lodging, ski reports, snowmobile trails, and snow conditions. If you live in Wisconsin call 1-800-362-8063. If you live outside of Wisconsin and this includes all of us here in Illinois call 800-356-8005. Jot down the number, remember it's toll free and information on snow conditions are important if your trailering up for the day or weekend. I would like to wish all my readers a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year. Enjoy your snowmobiling but remember it's only as safe as its driver. REGISTRATION ACT ARTICLE VII. The Bowling group started with 22 members and to date it is 100 strong. The group is operating just for fun, bo competition and the best exercise for the youngsters.
