After all our years of amateur sewing, just the other day Aunt Kathie came up with the handiest sewing tip for us. The width of the standard measuring tape is exactly % inch or the width of most seams used in sewing. the last ten years they have more than doubled their numbers in the world. One of the reasons for this, according to 1 Dominick Fontana, presiding minister of the local congregations, is the "em phasis placed on teaching quality. Many have wondered how Jehovah's Witnesses are equipped to contact people on a door to door basis. This ministry is not for the un skilled. A continuous training program for the young and old is always in progress at the congregation level." Mr. Fontana stated, "One of the requirements of a Christian is not/only to be well versed in the Bible, but also to be willing and able to teach. In doing this we are following the example of Jesus Christ who took his Apostles on his tour of Galilee by twos so they could observe his teachings." As a stimulus to the preaching methods of Jehovah's Witnesses, a three- day conference scheduled for Jan. 7, 8 and 9 is planned at the Illinois National Guard ar mory, Rockford. All features of the regular training program will be covered at the con ference under the direction of R.L. Balzer, a district super visor of the Watchtower Bible and Tract society, sent from New York. The public is invited to attend all sessions beginning at 6:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7.
