The bus is scheduled to leave from in front of the college at 8:30 a m and return at 4:30 p.m. "Students enrolled in art classes, friends, and patrons of the arts are invited to come with us," says Joseph Rybacek of the MCC Art department. Special exhibits at the Art Institute include the Joan Miro Show, 20th Century Prints, plus a show of photography There will also be a lecture on Persian Miniatures. A pre-trip lecture and in­ formation regarding the Art Institute will be given at MCC in Room A130 Friday, May 12, at noon. It will be given again on the bus trip to Chicago Lunch may be purchased at either the restaurant or the cafeteria Packages and bulky portfolios are not allowed However, Rybacek says, "Sketch books are permitted, and those who wish to take photographs must obtain a permit at the door." TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of May 22 1947) Mrs. Christine Nell passed away May 19 at the age of 80 years, after an illness of two weeks. Mrs. Nell was one of the old time residents of the vicinity who watched the community grow with interest. Mr and Mrs. Nell founded the well known Nell's pavilion in Johnsburg in 1900. In a lovely wedding service solemnized at St. Mary's church this Thursday morning. May 22, Miss Jeanne Hay became the bride of Mr. Donald Schaefef. The McHenry Plaindealer this week is celebrating its seventy-second birthday an­ niversary. Dr Marvin M. Dickey, former physician of Richmond announced the opening of of­ fices in Elgin, May 20. Something new in the way of baby showers yas| originated recently at the. Edwal Laboratories at Ringwood for a new, father, Bob Kappes. The women of the photo packing department surprised the young man by showering him with gifts for his new daughter, Roberta Ann. Mr. and Mrs. Math N. Sch- mitt and Mr. and Mrs. John Thennes left last week for a vacation trip to California. TEN YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of May 24, 1962) An honor has come to McHenry's Viscount drum and bugle corps in the form of an invitation to represent the American. Legion National headquarters in a parade which will open festivities at the 500 mile Indianapolis Speedway over the Memorial Day w eekend. The Viscounts are the only corps from Illinois invited to take part. Richard Antonson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Antonson of Grove avenue, a junior, has been chosen a candidate for man of the year award. This is not the first honor to come his way for Richard has been the recipient of several outstanding scholarships. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew C. Thompson of Wonder Lake announce the marriage of their daughter, Kathleen Louise, to Pfc, Robert L. Norton, which took place May 11 at Fair­ banks, Alaska. Miss Jane Nye, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William A. Nye of Pistakee Bay, was the second member of her family to be named prom queen when she won the title at Marian Centra] ;* Catholic high school Friday ;! evening.
